ET Preview: The 'RoboCop' Reboot
An all-new RoboCop is storming into theaters in 2014 to uphold justice and do battle with the scum of Detroit in the near future, and the cast of the film sat down with ET Canada's Erin Cebula to talk up the new movie and let their Robo-fan flags fly!
Off the bat, the cast expresses their appreciation for Paul Verhoeven's 1987 original film, a subversive and highly entertaining satire on corporate greed and violence in entertainment, and title star Joel Kinnaman reveals that he saw RoboCop for the first time when he was just eight -- and went on to watch it over and over again close to 30 times!
"I was working on my RoboCop walk way, way before I got this role," he says with a laugh.
Set in the year 2028, the new film finds Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, a loving husband, father and good cop who is critically injured in the line of duty. Multinational conglomerate OmniCorp's remarkable robotics science saves his life (thanks to his scientist-creator, played by Gary Oldman), and soon he's back on the streets fighting crime with an all-new arsenal of abilities. But is he ever going to be same? And when he discovers corruption in the top echelons of the conglomerate, will he bite the hands that feed him?
