On Saturday, famed novelist Patricia Cornwell posed a simple question on her official Facebook page, who should play Kay Scarpetta in a feature film about the forensic foodie? 6,000 plus comments later and the fans couldn't have cast a wider net.

There are, of course, the accomplished actresses who are mentioned for every major Hollywood role (Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock, Charlize Theron, Cate Blanchett) as well as those with passionate online fanbases (Castle's Stana Katic, Law & Order: SVU's Mariska Hargitay). Then, there are the actresses who are best known for playing similar characters (CSI's Marg Helgenberger, Bones' Emily Deschanel, Rizzoli & Isles' Sasha Alexander) as well as some choices that are totally out of left field (Glee's Jane Lynch).
