"I was looking forward to the production of A Star Is Born and the opportunity to work with Clint Eastwood. For months we tried to coordinate our schedules to bring this remake to life but it was just not possible. Hopefully in the future we will get a chance to work together," Beyonce said in a statement.

According to Variety, Eastwood now wants to cast Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding for the role as the young, up-and-coming performer who falls for an older star, though no male lead has been cast. Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Christian Bale and Johnny Depp have all been approached for the role but have seemingly turned it down, Rolling Stone reports.
