'Django Unchained' is 'Right in Your Face'

The "D" is silent, but Jamie Foxx is not when it comes to his excitement about Quentin Tarantino's new "Southern," Django Unchained. The Django star told ET this weekend at Comic-Con in San Diego that making the movie has been "a humbling experience, but it's been a whole lot of fun," and tackles the tough subject of slavery "right in your face."

"Most African-Americans, we don't even really know much about slavery," Jamie told ET Canada's Matte Babel. "So this is going to be right in your face, tells you exactly how it is -- Quentin Tarantino is smart in doing it because when you talk about movies that talk about slavery, if you don't do it this way, then there's really no need to do it, because you have to show what it really was like -- and this'll be the first time, I think, that the verbiage, the violence and then the love of it [is all in there]."

Jamie added that despite the serious subject matter, Django Unchained is not completely serious: "I know it sounds weird, but there's going to be some laugh-out-loud stuff too." Jamie also revealed that he rode his own personal horse in the film!

Quentin's action-packed follow-up to Inglourious Basterds tracks a former slave-turned-bounty hunter (Foxx) who sets out to rescue his wife (Kerry Washington) from a ruthless plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio) with the help of his mentor, German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Don Johnson, Bruce Dern, Walton Goggins, James Remar, Franco Nero, RZA and Samuel L. Jackson also star.

Django Unchained arrives in theaters Christmas Day.
