'Prometheus' Trailer: The Space Jockey Returns!
In space, no one can hear you scream – but your co-workers sure can in the cubicle next to you. The first full trailer for Prometheus, Ridley Scott's highly anticipated return to sci-fi, has arrived with much fanfare – Apple Trailers teased its release with a three-day countdown – and it's truly awe-inspiring. Watch it HERE.
Channeling the original Alien slow-reveal title credits, now we can officially confirm that Prometheus is indeed a direct prequel to Scott's groundbreaking 1979 classic, complete with the mythical "Space Jockey," cylindrical Facehugger-style pods and that haunting, boomerang-shaped, derelict spaceship.
The chilling title cards read: "They went looking for our beginning. What they found could be our end."
In theaters June 8, 2012, Prometheus stars Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Michael Fassbender, and while the actual storyline remains tighter than a sealed airlock, 20th Century Fox says Ridley Scott "creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race."
