'Pirates of the Caribbean' Coming to Cannes?
'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' might be heading to France
for its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, according to
The Hollywood Reporter.
One of Disney's most successful film franchises, which stars Johnny Depp, is reportedly set to be unveiled during an outdoor 3D screening at Disneyland May 7. The movie will then be released subsequently in France on May 18 and in the United States on May 20.
The star power could certainly make this possible as the latest 'Pirates' film cast includes Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane and Geoffrey Rush, along with Depp. This screening would make it two consecutive years a Disney movie opened up the festival, with 'Up' premiering at Cannes last year.
While the official Cannes lineup isn't expected until Thursday, sources speculate that 'Pirates' will be included on the list.
