The 47-year-old actor was married to real estate investor Scott Phillips for 13 years.
Julie Bowen has filed for divorce.
News that the Modern Family star and her husband of 13 years, real estate investor Scott Phillips, were separating hit last week, but the split became official when she filed with the L.A. Superior Court on Tuesday, ET can confirm.
The court documents obtained by ET show that Bowen cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for divorce, and the date of separation as Feb. 17, 2017.
Bowen is asking for joint physical and legal custody of their three kids. Bowen is also asking to terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to Phillips, in addition to requesting that all attorney’s fees and costs be covered by Phillips.
Their community property and the division of it will be determined at a later date.
Bowen and Phillips were married in September 2004 and share three sons, 10-year-old Oliver and 8-year-old twins John and Gustav. They are petitioning for a dissolution of marriage with minor children.
The pair last walked the red carpet together in September 2016 at the Los Angeles LGBT Center's 47th Anniversary Gala Vanguard Awards in West Hollywood, where the actress joked about being too worn out to think about divorce.
"We watch all these people get married and split up and go, ‘Wait, did they get married after us or before us?'" Bowen told Us Weekly. "We outlast all these people. The answer: We're too tired to do anything else!"
Though she hasn't commented on the split via social media yet, she did post an update from her recent hike in the canyons of Los Angeles -- which apparently involved a snake and a rabbit.
ET has reached out to Bowen's rep for comment.
