Teller and Sperry went from meeting at a GRAMMYs after-party to saying "I do" in Hawaii.
Miles Teller instantly connected with Keleigh Sperry the moment he met her, though Miles would have you believe he had to work hard for Keleigh to reciprocate his infatuation. In actuality, Keleigh instantly felt the connection, too.
A week later, Miles and Keleigh went on their first date, a date so magical Miles was down for the count. Keleigh was the one. After four years of dating, the couple took a trip halfway around the world where the Top Gun: Maverick star perfectly executed a proposal. She said yes, and they tied the knot at a private ceremony in Maui.
Miles and Keleigh's relationship -- from a budding romance to a marriage that exudes love, trust and loyalty -- is admired by those near and far to them. ET takes a closer look at how they got there.
They Met in 2013
Miles and Keleigh had mutual friends who played for the Black Keys when they attended a GRAMMYs after-party for the band. The Footloose star would tell Vogue in 2019 about how the night played out.
"Keleigh had caught my eye early in the night, and we talked. I didn't think it went well, but after a few more attempts, I got her to dance with me," he told the fashion magazine. "And a week later, we went on a date. After we met, I knew she was the one."
While Miles may have thought things didn't go well at first, Keleigh looks back on their meeting quite fondly.
"He was so charming and charismatic," she said. "I adored him from the first moment we met."
Miles Saves the Day
It was May 2015. Miles and Keleigh were on vacation enjoying the warm beaches of Miami when a pregnant woman appeared to be in distress.
As ET previously reported, Miles sprang into action after noticing the woman and her young daughter got caught in a strong riptide, forcing her underwater. Miles rushed to help and grabbed the hand of the woman -- who had her daughter on her back -- and brought them to safety.
Keleigh recounted the incident in a since-deleted Instagram post.
"She came up to us freaking out telling us to not freak out but it was a shark," Keleigh wrote. "And the scariest moment ever hahah poor lady. : ( ( pregnant with a toddler on her back."
They Weathered a Scary Car Crash
Miles and Keleigh were OK following a scary car crash in December 2016. So much so, Miles actually called out the other driver involved in the ordeal.
The car accident happened at the corner of Whitsett and Moorpark in Studio City, California. An LAPD spokesperson confirmed to ET at the time that Miles "got cut off" by another vehicle. The two passengers in that vehicle suffered injuries and needed to be transported to the hospital.
Miles and Keleigh walked away uninjured, but the actor took to social media to call out the other driver's "irrational and ignorant" driving.
"Me and @keleighsperry are okay," Teller wrote. "I hope the other passengers are as well. The other driver pulled into oncoming traffic and [a] bad accident was unavoidable. This woman's irrational and ignorant decision put our lives and her passengers in very real danger. Happy we could walk away."
He Popped the Question in 2017
After four years of dating, Miles asked Keleigh to marry him and she said yes. In August 2017, the couple embarked on a trip halfway around the world to South Africa. Miles told Vogue that surprising Keleigh "is really hard" but he managed to pull off the big surprise.
"We started our trip in the Seychelles. I think she thought I would do it by a beach," he told the magazine, "so I waited to do it on a safari and take her by surprise."
And that, he did.
"On safari, our Jeep would stop for coffee every morning," Keleigh recalled. "We stopped for our usual coffee break, and Miles and I were taking in the view when I spotted a rose on a tree. I was surprised to see a rose in the middle of winter in Africa, so I walked over and found a note attached to the rose that said the day we started dating [May 11, 2013] and the day it was. I turned around and he read it and said, 'That was the first day you became my girlfriend and today is the last,' and he got down on one knee. It was so thoughtful and romantic."
She said yes, obviously. Two months later, Miles and Keleigh walked the red carpet for the first time as an engaged couple at Miles' Only The Brave premiere.
The couple didn't waste time figuring out where they wanted to get married. After the proposal, Vogue reported that they quickly decided on Maui as the site of their destination wedding. Maui holds a special place in Keleigh's heart. It's where she and her family vacations every summer.
"Miles started joining us on vacations, and we fell in love with it together," she told Vogue. "We both felt happiest there and wanted it to be a big part of our lives forever."
In October 2017, Miles appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and offered more details about what was going through Keleigh's mind when she saw a rose in the middle of Africa.
"She thought somebody had died," he said laughing. "She thought it was kind of like an In Memoriam kind of thing and I'm like, 'Oh my god,' and I'm just like, starring, like, 'No, just go check it out.'"
Despite the meticulous planning, Miles isn't so sure he'd recommend a marriage proposal during a safari.
"It was beautiful and everything, but we were doing an impromptu engagement shoot and our game guide is putting down his gun for a second and looking around while we're trying to take photos and there's elephants coming in and usually there's animals kind of following the elephants," he said.
They Got Married in 2019
Miles and Keleigh held an intimate wedding on Sept. 1, 2019 in Maui. According to Vogue, the ceremony took place on a Sunday at a Catholic church on the island. They each wrote their own vows and exchanged stunning gold wedding bands designed by a friend.
The fashion magazine reported that, even though she was getting married in Hawaii, Keleigh still wanted to wear an elegant white wedding gown for the occasion.
"I wanted to keep it elegant and classic since our ceremony was in a church, but I also wanted there to be a light feel to the dress," she explained.
Keleigh complemented the wedding gown with her mom's necklace, which all of her sisters have worn while walking down the aisle.
As for the reception, it was held on the beach just in time for a picturesque sunset. The reception also featured a 12-piece band, and the couple had their first dance to Vince Gill's "If I Didn't Have You." Keleigh then changed out of her wedding gown and into Katie May dress before the party moved into a ballroom for a tropical jungle-themed after-party.
And while close friend Taylor Swift wasn't in attendance at the wedding, she did send a bouquet of flowers to the couple, along with a sweet note. "May you always be this close, forever & ever. Sending my best wishes to to two lovers on their big day. Your friend, Taylor," the "Lover" singer wrote.
They Celebrate Their 1st Wedding Anniversary
Keleigh commemorated the occasion by posting a few photos from their wedding day, the first of which shows her wrapping her arms around Miles as he plants a kiss on her cheek. She captioned the Sept. 1, 2020 post, "1 year ago, til the end."
On social media, Miles also revealed that the coupe celebrated with a romantic island getaway. He snapped a photo of their tropical drinks while relaxing on the beach.
"Happy 1 yr anniversary to my all-time love @keleighsperry. You and me til the end, baby," Miles tweeted.
Over on her Instagram Stories, Keleigh shared some snaps that included a view of the picturesque scene from inside a yacht, Miles going for a swim in the ocean and then the actor relaxing next to the pool.
The Double Date Vacay
Miles and Keleigh vacationed with Shailene Woodley and her then-boyfriend Aaron Rodgers in Hawaii back in May 2021. Keleigh documented the getaway on Instagram, which showed the foursome being very active for such a relaxing setting.
They first went on a hike to some idyllic local ponds. For the athletic outing, the Big Little Lies star donned a purple bikini while Aaron wore blue color blocked swim trunks. Miles, who co-starred with Shailene in both The Spectacular Now and the Divergent films, wore dark board shorts, while his wife rocked a fuchsia bikini top and jean shorts.
"Ponds with soulmates 🦋🌈🌈 thank you @zenobijade for the best day of hiking these pools," Keleigh captioned a series of photos and videos of the group.
On that same trip, Aaron belted out Taylor Swift's "The 1" while singing karaoke.
Appearing in Taylor Swift's Music Video
The music world went wild when in November 2021 when Taylor dropped the music video to "I Bet You Think About Me," directed by none other than Blake Lively.
The wedding-themed video stars Miles as a groom, preparing to get married when he keeps flashing back on a past love (Taylor).
Taylor appears as a waitress, speech giver, and performer at the wedding as Miles looks stunned while trying to find her in the crowd. She grabs a handful of wedding cake and chugs champagne and gleefully teaches a group of little girls how to flip the bird as the horrified groom looks on.
Eventually, the pair share a dreamy sequence with Taylor in a strapless bridal gown, dancing with her ex before stepping away as her dress turns a crimson red and she joins the wedding band to finish up the song.
PDA Galore for Top Gun: Maverick
Miles and Keleigh walked the red carpet plenty of times and they couldn't keep their hands and lips off each other -- whether it was at a premiere in Los Angeles and San Diego or Cannes and London.
Miles Hosts SNL
Following a cast shakeup in the Summer of 2022, Miles kicked off season 48 in hilarious fashion as the evening's host. Miles addressed the elephant in the room (all the SNL exits) during the cold open.
Miles played Payton Manning, joined by his brother Eli Manning (Andrew Dismukes), as they live-commented on the SNL cold-open sketch, and brutally criticized the sketch.
The bit got even more meta when Jon Hamm joined Payton and Eli as a special guest commentator and all three of them got in on the fun of making fun of the cast's gaffes in the sketch-within-a-sketch.
At one point, Shawn White showed up for a one-line cameo and Jon joked, "Well, you know, sometimes they need to bring in a real celebrity when the host isn't that famous... I mean, they couldn't get the star of the big summer movie, like, Tom Cruise or John Hamm, they had to get the costar."
Payton (again, played by Miles) indignantly replied, "Well, I heard they rarely put the hosts in cold open, so when they do, it is special."
"Special? Or is it desperate?" Hamm shot back.
In any event, Keleigh was there to once again show her man support. She took to her Instagram and shared behind-the-scenes photos. She also posted a mirror selfie with the actor and captioned it, "So proud of you," followed by a heart emoji on fire.
Their First Commercial
The couple was featured in a Bud Light commercial that aired during the Super Bowl in February 2023. The commercial kicks off with the camera zoomed in on Keleigh's phone resting on her forehead. The call shows she's been waiting on hold with customer service for 56 minutes.
Just then, Miles goes into the fridge and grabs a couple of beers. He cracks one open and starts dancing his way over to Keleigh and offers her the drink. After she takes the drink, Miles is seen holding the couple's French bulldog, Bugsy, as he moonwalks across the living room. The couple is then seen dancing along to the hold music and having fun before cracking into laughter when the customer service agents asks if she's still on the line.
"It's really been an incredible year for both Keleigh and I, not just professionally but personally," Miles told People ahead of the beer campaign. "So, when Bud Light came and wanted us to be a part of a Super Bowl commercial, I mean, that's the top of the mountain as far as these things go. We always look forward to watching them."
He added, "You're getting a sneak peek into Keleigh and I hanging out at home, which is pretty much what we do. We don't really go out that much, if at all."
As if being featured in a Super Bowl commercial wasn't reason enough to celebrate an awesome 2023, the couple jetted off to Paris two weeks later to celebrate Miles' 36th birthday.
Miles and Keleigh at The Eras Tour
This was bound to happen, and it finally did in May 2023. Miles and Keleigh attended The Eras Tour at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Keleigh took to Instagram and shared a carousel post that featured her wearing close to a dozen friendship bracelets while hugging Taylor. Keleigh and Miles were there with Aaron Rodgers, who was singing and dancing his butt off.
Another snap showed Keleigh exchanging friendship bracelets. She captioned the post, "48 hours in ERAs heaven."
Celebrating 4 Years of Marriage
Miles and Keleigh celebrated four years of marriage with a trip to Bora Bora. She also posted a bunch of photos that featured the couple on their wedding day, on a red carpet and slow dancing on top of a coffee table in their living room. She captioned that post, "Happy wedding anniversary, growing old and staying young forever."
Date Night With Taylor Swift
Miles, Keleigh and Selena Gomez all hung out with Taylor Swift on Dec. 12 ahead of her 34th birthday in New York City, where they were spotted leaving the Zero Bond social club after dinner.
For that outing, Miles looked casual in a blue flannel shirt and navy blue baseball cap, while his wife wore a printed mini-skirt, knee-high boots, and a navy peacoat.
Miles, Keleigh and Taylor hung out just a couple of days later, on Dec. 14, as they were spotted leaving The Box after celebrating her birthday.
