The daytime television host is known for his iconic delivery of DNA test results.
Maury Povich knows one line is a big part of his legacy -- and he appreciates it!
"They're gonna remember, 'you are the father, you are not the father,'' the retired daytime TV host told ET during the Daytime Emmy Awards, where he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. "That's what they're gonna remember."
The 84-year-old TV legend -- who delivered the iconic line for multiple decades during the paternity test portion of his show, Maury -- revealed that it's even an honor when people request that he says it on the street.
"Well, I react very favorably because if you're on television every day and nobody recognizes you, you're in trouble," he shared. "I've always been very generous with my time in public because I believe in that."
Maury ended in 2022 after more than 30 years on the air. A year after ending the production, the iconic host revealed there are two things that would bring him back to TV.
"I would come back to do a lie detector test between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj. I've offered that. And also I'm ready to do a paternity test on Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson," he shared.
He added, "I've already asked them over and over again. I think Woody would be partial to it and apparently Matthew is on the fence. I'd come on primetime. I'd even dye my hair back!"
After years in the television business, Povich had big feelings when it came to being honored with a Lifetime Achievement award.
"Well, Gregory Peck had a great line when he was awarded something like this, he said it had an ominous ring to it," Povich quipped. "I feel great. I feel humble and I've always been a great fan and supporter of the Academy. I was the chapter president in the New York chapter for many years and so I know what work the Academy does and I'm just so proud to be a part of it."
