Matt Damon Praises Daughter's Boyfriend and Reveals What He's Like as a Girl Dad

Matt Damon is a father to daughters Isabella, Gia and Stella, and a stepfather to daughter Alexia.

Matt Damon may be a girl dad, but to the relief of their boyfriends, he's not a scary one.

Damon, 53, and his wife of nearly 20 years, Luciana Barroso, are parents to three daughters: Isabella, 18, Gia, 15, and Stella, 13. He is also stepfather to Alexia, Barroso's daughter from a previous relationship. The Martian actor appeared on SiriusXM's Radio Andy on Thursday and spoke with host Andy Cohen, 56, about his best advice for being a girl dad.

"Oh, man. I don't know," Damon answered of his best advice. "I wouldn't deign to give anybody advice other than I just try to listen and be helpful. I mean, ultimately, it's about building self-esteem. Because, you know, 99% of the decisions they make, you're not gonna be there."

Advice aside, Cohen wanted to know what kind of dad Damon is when his daughters "bring a boy home and they say, 'I'm dating this...'"

"Oh, I'm fine. I'm cool with that. You know what I mean?" Damon replied, prompting Cohen to ask, "You don't turn all Boston, like, 'What are you doing with my daughter?'"

"No, no, no. That's like an old trope that I think people, you know, like to play up. You know, dads like to joke about it amongst each other I think sometimes, but no," Damon explained.

He's even given his stamp of approval to the boyfriend of his eldest daughter.

"She's got this incredible boyfriend who Lucy and I just love," Damon said of Alexia. "We adore the guy and to see that she's making those kinds of choices, really, it's as good as it gets."

On Wednesday, Damon brought his wife and four daughters to the premiere of his Apple TV+ film, The Instigators, at Lincoln Center in New York City. The ladies dressed to the nines for Damon's big night.

Damon spoke to ET's Rachel Smith at the premiere, and he gushed over how time flies when you're a parent.

"I know, it happens so fast," he said when commenting about the young ladies by his side.

He added, "It happens kind of slowly and then really fast in a beautiful way."
