The new season of 'Mama June: Family Crisis' premieres Friday, Feb. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on WE tv.
Mama June Shannon and her family first learned that her daughter, Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell, had stage 4 cancer in January 2023. Less than a year later, Anna died, leaving behind two young daughters and a husband.
The journey that the family undertook through Anna's battle with cancer was an emotional one, and plays out in heartbreaking detail in a new season of Mama June: Family Crisis.
ET has an exclusive first-look at the rollercoaster new season, which details the unexpectedly tense drama that played out behind-the-scenes throughout Anna's health struggles.
The season -- which was filmed between February and November 2023, and wrapped production prior to Anna's death -- details all the different highs and lows to hit the family throughout the year, including Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson's high school graduation, as well as her boyfriend's legal struggles and the uncertainty of what she should do with the next stages of her life.
Anna's next steps after being diagnosed with cancer also take center stage this season -- including her whirlwind marriage to Eldridge Toney and her radical, aggressive attempts to overcome her illness.
However, the partially repaired relationship between Mama June and her daughters may be short-lived, as Alana confronts her mother over family money that she used for drugs in the midst of her addiction -- thus jeopardizing whatever future plans Alana may have.
"I mean, she's our mother, but if I gotta put her in jail, I will," Alana shares in a confessional that closes out the dramatic super tease.
The new season of Mama June: Family Crisis premieres Friday, Feb. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on WE tv and will be available on the AMC Networks streamer ALLBLK every Tuesday.
