The first family of 'DWTS' reveal "confidential" details about their new dance tour and dish about bringing a baby on a tour bus!
It's three dancers -- and a baby!
Dancing With the Stars pros Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy are doubling down on the success of their 2016 Our Way tour by adding the star power of fellow fan-favorite -- and Mrs. Chmerkovskiy herself -- Peta Murgatroyd. Plus, Maks & Peta’s little boy, Shai will be joining in the family fun! The dance trio gave ET an exclusive first look at what fans can expect from the upcoming 51-show event, titled Maks, Val & Peta Live on Tour: Confidential.
“We’re definitely going to have a lot of wow moments,” Val teased when ET’s Lauren Zima caught up with the trio at their promotional photo shoot. “I think 'confidential' is more from the side of the honesty you’re going to get on this tour. This show is going to be honest about how we feel about love, how we feel about friendships, how we feel about family, and that’s what’s confidential. You’re going to get to see us in a way that you haven’t seen us before.”
“What we accomplished with our first tour was just a very honest description of who we are, where we come from and our past,” Maks explained. “I think this tour is about our present, about things that have happened in the very recent future.”
One of those recent events was Maks and Peta’s fairy tale wedding this summer. So it made perfect sense for the two-time DWTS winner to hit the road with her new husband and brother-in-law. Maks even compared adding his wife’s talent to the tour to the Golden State Warriors adding Kevin Durant to their all-star roster. Peta told ET that she’s “very excited” to be performing with her family, but admits it’s partially her job to keep them “grounded.”
And to make things even more interesting this time around, there will be a baby on the tour bus! Murgatroyd was pregnant with Shai when the Chmerkovskiys went on tour last time, so she’s equal parts thrilled and skeptical to make this trip a full family affair.
“Talk to me the first weekend and we’ll see how we go,” Murgatroyd laughed, noting the challenges of bringing their son (who turns one year old on Jan. 4) along. “We’re going to definitely have to have a really good setup for him [on the bus].”
The newly-minted first family of DWTS announced the tour with a special performance on Good Morning America, highlighting the “incredible dancing” Val promises we’ll see in the new show.
“I’m really proud to be able to share the stage, not just with my siblings, but with incredible artists, probably the best in the industry,” Val says of working with Maks and Peta.
The 49-city road trip begins on March 19 in Springfield, Missouri, and ends on May 16 in Las Vegas, including stops at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles and Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Tickets are available for pre-sale for American Express customers now and will go live on Ticketmaster on Dec. 5. Sales to the general public begin on Friday, Dec. 8.
