Lisa Kudrow Clarifies Jennifer Aniston's Claim She Hated the 'Friends' Live Audience Laughing (Exclusive)

Lisa Kudrow speaks with ET and addresses remarks her 'Friends' co-star made about her getting upset at audiences laughing over jokes.

Lisa Kudrow is clarifying her feelings about having a live studio audience during the taping of Friends, after her former co-star, Jennifer Aniston, claimed she "hated" the way they would laugh during jokes.

Sitting down with ET's Rachel Smith while promoting her new TV series, Time Bandits, Kudrow clarified that she did not, in fact, hate having audiences -- she just felt that they would occasionally laugh a bit too much.

"No, that's not exactly -- no, no. It irritated me if they would laugh for too long," Kudrow said, responding to Aniston's recounting of events.

Aniston recently sat down with Abbott Elementary's Quinta Brunson for Variety's Actors on Actors, where she recalled memories from her time on Friends, and claimed, "Lisa Kudrow, by the way, hated when the audience laughed... She'd be like, 'I'm not done! It's not that funny!'"

"God bless them. They were so excited to be there that sometimes the laughter would just be longer than if they would have laughed at anything else," Kudrow explained to ET. "I was like, 'All right, well, take it easy. It’s not that funny. And there's more to say!'"

For her new series, Time Bandits -- based on the 1981 Terry Gilliam fantasy epic, and co-created by Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement and Iain Morris -- Kudrow stars as Penelope, the leader of a group of time-traveling pirates and adventurers.

"Taika had gotten in touch with me and said, 'Jemaine and I wrote this thing, we're shooting in New Zealand. Would you ever consider doing that?' And, 'Yes! Like, why am I going to say no to you two?'"

For her new project, Kudrow sports some chic and awesome pirate-inspired costumes, and the actress had nothing but praise for the series' amazing wardrobe.

"I loved it!" she marveled. "That was, I think one of the most comfortable costumes I've ever worn in my life. I'm not kidding."

For Kudrow, getting to star on Time Bandits is something of a perfect blend of all the story elements she enjoys herself.

"Time travel? I love it! And I love history. I'm kind of a history buff," Kudrow shared. "And it's just fun."

Time Bandits premieres July 24 on Apple TV+. Watch the trailer below.
