The duo got the crowd pumped with their hip-hop-country collaboration.
Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus took over Stagecoach!
The rapper and the "Achy Breaky Heart" country superstar treated festivalgoers to the first live performance of their collaboration, "Old Town Road" remix, during the Indio, California, annual event at the end of Diplo’s DJ set on Sunday.
The crowd went wild as the two performed their genre-blending hit.
Lil Nas X's debut single was originally released in late 2018 and quickly went viral. However, the song earned even more recognition when Cyrus jumped on the track in early April and added his verses.
The song soon became a crossover country-trap hit, with even Keith Urban covering it earlier this month.
The song did face some criticism last month when Billboard decided to remove "Old Town Road" from the Hot Country Song chart for not being country enough.
In a statement to ET, Billboard explained that, "When determining genres, a few factors are examined, but first and foremost is musical composition. While 'Old Town Road' incorporates referenced to country and cowboy imagery it does not embrace enough elements of today's country music to chart in its current version."
The remix, though, did hit the number one spot on the Hot 100 chart this past week, with Cyrus celebrating by posting a photo of him and the rapper horseback riding.
"Riding back into #1 on Billboard with this amazing guy @lilnasx #OTRremix @youngkio_ @dopebyaccident #billboardhot100 #OTR #OldTownRoadRemix," he wrote.
