Leverage star Gina Bellman is opening up about her own breast cancer journey after being inspired by Kate Middleton's recent announcement.
The 57-year-old actress took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise the Princess of Wales for her video announcement on Friday.
"Catherine The Princess of Wales displayed such composure and grace today in her heartbreaking announcement. Hoping her treatment is successful and also for a kinder world," Bellman tweeted.
She went on to reveal her own diagnosis.
"I myself underwent treatment for Breast Cancer last summer. Until now- I didn’t have the courage to go public," she added. "[Eight] months on I’m back in stilettos and filming 14 hour days. For those undergoing treatment right now- there is light at the end of this tunnel."
Bellman later shared her thanks for the support following her announcement, writing, "Thank you all for the ❤️ I do think the Leverage world is a little cocoon of kindness xx."
Bellman played Sophie Devereux on the hit TV series and the spin-off, Leverage: Redemption. She also played Jane Christie on the series, Coupling.
On Friday, after weeks of speculation surrounding her whereabouts, the Princess of Wales released an official video, detailing that she was in the early stages of preventative chemo for cancer. Though the senior royal did not share what type of cancer or what stage, she did call the diagnosis a "huge shock."
Kate shared that she and her husband, Prince William, held off on sharing the news with their three children — Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 — leading them to keep the diagnosis private for months.
"As I have said to [my children]; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits," Kate said in her message.
