Kravitz and Carey are two of this year's nominees, who became eligible 25 years after releasing their first recording.
Lenny Kravitz and Mariah Carey have a lot to celebrate!
On Saturday, the official nominations for this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced, and the two veteran musicians were on the list. In honor of the occasion, Carey took to Instagram to celebrate.
"Beyond excited and thrilled to be among these legendary nominees for this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Congratulations to all! @rockhall," the "Butterfly" songstress wrote.
In the comments, Kravitz expressed his excitement to be part of the class with his old friend.
"Congratulations!," he wrote. "We've come a long way. Honored to share yet another experience with you."
Kravitz took to his respective social media to celebrate the news of his nomination.
"Woke up to this! Grateful to be nominated for this prestigious honor, @rockhall," the "Fly Away" singer wrote. "Cast your vote daily starting today through April 26th @ vote.rockhall.com."
Kravitz and Carey have not recorded together. However, the pair starred alongside each other in the 2009 film, Precious. The two New York natives have also celebrated each other over the years during various music events.
In addition to Carey and Kravitz, this year's stacked nominees list includes Ozzy Osbourne, Cher, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Eric B & Rakim, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Jane’s Addiction, Kool & the Gang, Oasis, Sinead O’Connor, Sade and A Tribe Called Quest.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees will be announced in April, with the ceremony celebrating the musicians airing in the fall. The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will stream live on Disney+ with a special airing on ABC at a later date and available on Hulu the next day.
