Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umanksy, who share four children, ended their 27-year marriage last year.
Kyle Richards hasn't had alcohol in two years.
The reality star took to social media on Thursday to commemorate two years of sobriety. At 55, Richards proudly shared her journey, highlighting the challenges and triumphs of her alcohol-free lifestyle.
"This week marked my 2-year anniversary of being alcohol-free (July 15th). There was a time when even the idea of going 2 weeks seemed impossible," the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star captioned an Instagram post, accompanied by a flexing gym selfie. "I’m proud of the fact that I’ve had the willpower to stay on this path."
In the photo shared, Kyle showcased her toned physique in a black workout set from her home gym, with her loyal dog posing in the background.
Kyle candidly discussed the social pressures she faced, revealing that many people, including well-meaning friends, wished she would start drinking again. "Everyone loved 'Party Kyle.' I think that was the hardest part of all of this --the resistance from others," she admitted.
As a mother of four, Kyle reflected on her past as a "people pleaser" who often turned to alcohol to navigate social settings. However, she emphasized that her priorities have shifted. "My mental and physical health became a lot more important to me. It would have been a lot harder going through these difficult times if I had been drinking," she shared, hinting at her separation from husband Mauricio Umansky.
Kyle and Mauricio ended their 27-year marriage last year. Recently, Mauricio was seen kissing a mystery woman at an airport in Mykonos, Greece, adding to the speculation that their marriage is over for good.
Despite the personal upheavals, Kyle remains committed to her sobriety and well-being. She has removed "wife" from her Instagram bio and dedicated herself to waking up each day feeling her best. "Mentally and physically strong enough to face whatever comes my way," she continued, expressing her happiness and inspiration when strangers tell her she has motivated them to choose a booze-free lifestyle.
"Personally, I prefer to see people and situations just as they are. AND without the hangxiety ❤️ #alcoholfree," she concluded her post.
Mauricio and Kyle, who tied the knot in 1996, confirmed their separation last summer.
The couple's marital woes played out on season 13 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and culminated in the final reunion episode, where Kyle hinted that divorce was on the horizon.
When ET spoke to Kyle in April, she praised her daughters for their support amid her and Mauricio's separation. Kyle and Mauricio have daughters Portia, 16, Sophia, 24, and Alexia, 28. Kyle additionally shares Farrah, 35, with her ex-husband, Guraish Aldjufrie.
"They just have been the most unbelievable source of support for me. It's funny because I am the mom, but they are giving me advice and they're just so smart and so together," she said. "Obviously, as a mom, I worry about them first. But they really have been taking care of me, too. These have been some of my most proud moments as a mom, honestly. How they've handled all this."
While Kyle and Mauricio lived together throughout many of their marital woes, the RHOBH star confirmed on the B**ch Bible podcast in May that Mauricio had moved out. That same month, Kyle dropped "Umansky" from her Instagram name and debuted a new monogram necklace sans her married initial.
Then, in June, Kyle and Mauricio were spotted out with their kids to celebrate his birthday.
