Before 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians,' the mother of three had other reality TV dreams.
Kim Kardashian West could have been famous for another reality TV series.
In a new interview with Business of Fashion, the mother of three recalls the time she almost applied to be on MTV's The Real World.
Long before Keeping Up With the Kardashians began, Kim spent her days working for her now-late father, Robert Kardashian. She tells the outlet she had dreams of becoming famous way back when.
"I had worked in my dad's office for so many years, but I didn't have a career and I didn't love college. I went [for] four years but I didn’t graduate. I just sat there and I was like, 'What am I going to do?'" she says. "When I was really young I always was -- it's the weirdest thing, but I loved The Real World. And I would say to my best friend's dad who was a manager, 'You should be my manager! And when we're 18, I'm going to send a tape into The Real World because I have to be on a reality show.'"
"Like, that's it! It clicked," she continues. "This is what I want to do. And then the producers that produced The Real World produced my show, so it kind of all came full circle."
While Kim is beyond grateful for all the opportunities (and the fame!) that has come her way since KUWTK first aired in October 2007, she admits constantly being in the spotlight can be challenging at times.
"There's times when I definitely feel overwhelmed," she explains. "People assume that everything is so public, and that you put everything on the show, and that you're not really entitled to have anything secret or to yourself."
