The rapper took to social media to announce he broke his foot and vowed to never do it again.
Kid Cudi triumphantly returned to the Coachella Valley Music Festival in Indio, California, on Sunday, delivering an electrifying performance that captivated the crowd.
However, the evening took an unexpected turn when Cudi suffered a broken foot during his set at the Sahara Tent. The injury occurred as he leaped off the stage and into the crowd.
Videos captured by fans showed Cudi falling off the stage and landing awkwardly on one of his feet, prompting security personnel to swiftly intervene and carry him off for medical attention. The rapper later confirmed the injury on social media, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans.
"Hey guys, so I broke my foot today at the show. just leavin the hospital. Never broken a bone before so this is all a bit crazy," the 40-year-old rapper wrote. "I wanna thank u all for ur concerns and well wishes!! I love yall man. I heard yall still ragin when I was offstage. Made me smile big."
On Monday, Cudi shared a video on X discussing his recent injury at Coachella. He expressed optimism about healing in time for his upcoming tour. Despite experiencing significant pain on Sunday, he reassured fans that he's feeling better but still a bit sore.
"This is what happens when a 40-year-old man tries to prance around off stage, like he's 26, like he use to do back in the day. I learned a valuable lesson. No more prancing around, jumping off stages," said Cudi.
Despite the injury, Cudi delivered a remarkable performance, debuting tracks from his recent album, Insano, including hits "Moon Man S**t" and "Blue Sky."
Prior to his Coachella performance, the rapper announced last week his engagement to Lola Sartore, a menswear designer."My fiancé Lola and me at the Knuckles premiere," wrote Cudi, who stars in the Paramount+ series, Knuckles, with Idris Elba. "This amazing woman makes me so happy, she is everything to me and im so excited to share this news w u all Life is wild, and right when I felt my future was uncertain, it became crystal clear with Lola. Happy Cud in full effect 😉🙏🏾 Styled by @ysl."
Sartore also took to her Instagram grid to share the same series of pictures as Cudi with her own announcement. "I never thought I could love someone this much! So proud to call you my fiancé Scott. ❤️🔥," she wrote. "I can't wait for you all to see this amazing man in the new Knuckles show!"
Cudi's marriage to Sartore will be his first. The rapper is the father of 13-year-old daughter Vada, whom he welcomed in a previous relationship. In previous years, Cudi has been linked to Cassie Ventura, Michelle Trachtenberg and Stella Maeve.
Cudi and Sartore's relationship timeline has yet to be revealed, as the pair's engagement news was the first time they appeared on each other's social media accounts. Sartore, however, did work alongside Cudi's friend and late designer, Virgil Aboloh, according to her social media.
Their romance seems like a whirlwind as Cudi was still in his dating era in 2022 while speaking to ET at the premiere of his Netflix series, Entergalactic. In the animated series, the rapper voices Jabari, an artist who is balancing a career and a love life.
Cudi revealed at the time that the limited series about Black love gave viewers "a taste" of that he was looking for in a partner. "Well, I feel like this was something that was needed, like a Black love story, told in this way, and I kind of sprinkled a lot of like, my hopes and dreams, and what I want out of a relationship into this."
