Kendrick Lamar's longtime fiancée Whitney Alford and their two kids Uzi and Enoch appear in the new music video, which disses Drake.
Kendrick Lamar is adding fuel to the fire of his rap beef with Drake. The 37-year-old rapper released the widely anticipated music video for his diss track, "Not Like Us," which he directed alongside Dave Free.
Footage was mostly taken in Lamar's hometown of Compton, California, featuring some local hotspots as well as several familiar faces.
Tommy the Clown and producer and DJ Mustard both make cameos in the video, as does Lamar's high school sweetheart and fiancée, Whitney Alford, and the couple's two kids, daughter Uzi and son Enoch. The very private family are featured in rare footage dancing around a living room together in black and white.
The inclusion is notable given that Drake accused Lamar of domestic abuse and infidelity in his song "Family Matters."
In 2015, Lamar made a rare comment about his relationship with Alford.
"I wouldn't even call her my girl," he told Billboard. "That's my best friend. I don't even like the term that society has put in the world as far as being a companion — she's somebody I can tell my fears to."
Meanwhile, "Not Like Us" was originally released in May 2024, directly calling out Drake by name and making several damning claims against him, including referring to the rapper as a "pedophile."
"Say, Drake, I hear you like 'em young/ You better not ever go to cell block one/ To any b**ch that talk to him and they in love/ Just make sure you hide your lil' sister from him," Lamar raps in the song, later adding, "Certified lover boy? Certified pedophiles."
There are also several visuals in the music video using owl imagery and even a real live owl at the end of the video, which Lamar watches before walking away leaving it in a cage. Earlier in the video he also smacks an owl-shaped piñata. The owl imagery has direct ties to Drake, who uses the bird as the symbol of his OVO label and crew.
In the piñata scene, there is a disclaimer that reads, "No OVHoes were harmed with the making of this video."
For his part, Drake has released his own retaliatory track against Lamar, titled "The Heart Part 6."
In the song he denied claims of sleeping with underage girls, rapping, "If I was f**king young girls, I promise I'd have been arrested/ I'm way too famous for this s**t you just suggested."
ET spoke with several hip hop stars earlier this week at the BET Awards about the feud, including DJ Mustard, who produced "Not Like Us," telling ET, "I'm gonna say Kendrick because I'm from California."
He later clarified that their collaboration has been a long time coming.
"This wasn't driven from beef. I didn't send this from beef," Mustard explained. "I sent this from being a kid from Los Angeles, California, and watching Kendrick being from Compton, which is not far from where I was raised. I was just being persistent and sending as much stuff as I could and that's what happened."
Hip hop legend Jermaine Dupri also told ET of the feud, "I think it just brought life back to hip hop. People were saying hip hop was a dying genre, and it just put a lot of life back into it."
