Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos' daughter, Lola Consuelos, was born one year before Chris Rock's daughter, Lola Rock.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos aren't interested in gatekeeping the name Lola, just because that's the name of their only daughter, Lola Consuelos.
On Wednesday's episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, the couple and co-hosts talked about kid names and the rules surrounding them. Ripa shared a story about comedian Chris Rock coming to her when it came time to name his own child.
"There's a very funny story. Chris Rock called me when he was expecting his first daughter -- I had just had Lola -- and he said, 'Listen, Malaak and I are thinking of naming the baby Lola and we just want to check with you to see if that’s OK,'" Ripa recalled.
Ripa had no problem with Rock using the name and even wished she could borrow part of his daughter's moniker for her own Lola.
"I was like, 'First of all, I don't own the name Lola, I didn't trademark it. And second of all, we can all agree Lola Rock is an amazing name,'" Ripa added. "Like, 'Do you mind if I change Lola's last name to Rock?'"
As for Rock, he shares daughters Lola, 22, and Zahra, 20, with his ex-wife, Malaak Compton-Rock.
Consuelos praised Rock for the "very polite" move, and Ripa said that it was completely unnecessary.
"Yeah, but it never occurred to me," she noted. "I wouldn't even… I'm not the only Kelly, you're not the only Mark."
In addition to 23-year-old Lola, Ripa and Consuelos are also parents to sons Michael, 27, and Joaquin, 21.
In 2023, Lola spoke with ET about her famous parents sharing details about their private lives on their daytime talk show.
"They know me inside and out, so I think they know by this point what line they shall and shall not cross," Lola said of her parents. "... They never actually really cross a line. We have a very respectful relationship, so there's never been a real moment where I'm like, 'Oh my god, why would you share that?'"
In March, ET also spoke with Ripa and Consuelos about how long they plan to work together on Live With Kelly and Mark.
"Until it's not fun," Consuelos told ET about their working relationship.
"Honestly, I've spent my life with him, I can do things with him for decades," Ripa added. "I guess decades is your answer."
