The proud father and his ex-wife have had a difficult relationship since their divorce in 2009, leading to Jon becoming estranged from their eight children at times.
Happy birthday to the world's most famous sextuplets!
Jon Gosselin, star of Jon & Kate Plus 8, posted a sweet happy birthday message to six of those eight, all born on this day back in 2004. Gosselin posted two Instagram photos to commemorate the milestone, the first showing the entire freshly turned 14-year-old crew hanging out lakeside.
"Happy 14th Birthday to Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden and Collin!!!" Gosselin captioned the pic. "I can’t believe it’s been this long!!! Whew that when fast!!! Daddy loves you all very much!!!"
A second Instagram photo shows him and his daughter, Hannah, at a cafe.
"Happy Birthday Hannah!!! 14 already," he wrote. "Bday breakfast with my daughter before the bus stop!!!"
His ex-wife, Kate Gosselin, marveled on Instagram two weeks ago at how quickly time has passed since they were born as their big day approached.
My beautiful 'little girls' .... they keep reminding me how many days until they turn 14. Today it was '12 days til we turn 14, Mom.' HOW'S THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!" she wrote. "I told Leah that she's too small to turn 14. She said 'Yeah, true. Are you sure I'm not turning 11 or 12?' ??I'm positive. I gave birth to you. They'll always be my babies....I love them so very much! ♥️♥️♥️
The Gosselins' other children, twins Mady and Cara, turned 17 in October.
The family's journey and struggles were documented over five seasons on Jon & Kate Plus 8 and continued after Jon and Kate divorced in 2009 on Kate Plus 8 for another six seasons. The divorce clearly wasn't easy for the couple and Jon has described being estranged from his children at times. Last August, police were even called to an orthodontist's office as the couple argued over custody of one of their younger daughters. Fortunately, no charges were filed, but it led to additional legal wrangling.
