Jennifer Lopez revealed in a new interview with ET that she does not know if she'll ever make another album after her newest one.
For her newest album, Jennifer Lopez gave it all she has.
Mere days away from the release of her ninth studio album -- her first in a decade -- the world-famous triple threat revealed to ET that it may also be her last.
"We did a bunch of different album covers," she explained of This Is Me... Now, out on Feb. 16. "We try to do stuff that’s very special for the fans and do collector's items and things like that that they can have forever and ever. The truth is I don't even know if I'll ever make another album after this. It’s such the kind of quintessential kind of Jennifer Lopez J.Lo project and I really feel very fulfilled, so they really will be collector’s items at a certain point."
When pressed on the revelation, Lopez quipped, "Don't tell Benny [Medina] that that’s what I'm thinking --- this might be my last album ever."
The album comes 22 years after she released This Is Me... Then, the third studio album she put out during her initial romance with now-husband Ben Affleck. As fans well know, the engaged pair eventually split before reuniting and officially tying the knot in 2022.
Explained the superstar, "I feel like it’s the end of a kind of an era for me and the beginning of a new one, so I would never say never, but right now I feel like I really put my heart and soul into this and I'm very excited and it definitely took a lot out of me."
To accompany the album, Lopez will also star in a musical film, This Is Me... Now: A Love Story, to be released on Prime Video. "I was very inspired to make the music at this point in my life with all of the amazing things that have happened to me in the past couple of years and once the music was done, I thought, OK, this is very special. I want to do something special. I don't want to just take the normal route and so, I created this cinematic experience and that kind of was just born from being in the studio and realizing that the music, although it told a beautiful story, it didn't tell the whole story," she said. "I sat with Dave Meyers, who directed it, and I I said, you know, this is what happened. This is where I'm at in my life. This is what I want to say. This is what I want to share. This is what I've learned and I want to put that into this artistic piece and he was like, 'Let’s do it. Let's go,' and he really elevated it to a level that I could've never imagined. It's quite moving and beautiful, so I'm excited."
Amid the excitement of her forthcoming album, Lopez made it to Dubai on Saturday for the grand opening of One&Only: One Za’abeel, channeling Old Hollywood glamour in a Giambattista Valli strapless gown and matching overcoat accessorized with white opera gloves. She later changed into a purple sequin jumpsuit to serenade the crowd inside the party as Mark Ronson deejayed.
"It's incredible to be invited to these kind of special occasions and mark people's lives," she said. "They put so much work into it and it's a beautiful, beautiful resort, so I'm excited."
