The moment happened during the singer's performance of 'Can't Get Enough.'
Jennifer Lopez wasn't fazed by a hair malfunction. The 54-year-old singer served as Saturday Night Live's latest musical guest, and, during her performance of "Can't Get Enough," expertly handled her hair extension coming out.
As Lopez was dancing onstage, she put her hand up by her hair as part of the routine and discovered that her hair extension was loose. Without pausing her dance or otherwise interrupting her performance, Lopez yanked out the hairpiece, threw it behind her and kept going.
The performance, which included Latto and REDMAN, the song's featured artists, ended up being an epic one, as Lopez stunned in an edgy take on a black suit, which featured a cropped white shirt that showed off her abs.
Later in the show, Lopez performed the title track off of her forthcoming album, This Is Me...Now, looking stunning in a pink ballgown.
Prior to the big show, The Bear's Ayo Edebiri, who hosted the episode, made headlines for her resurfaced comments about Lopez. Edebiri made the comments during a 2020 appearance on the Scam Goddess podcast, telling host Laci Mosley that she felt the "Love Don't Cost a Thing" singer's career in music was "one long scam." The way Edebiri explained it at the time, she said she bought into the idea that Lopez doesn't sing on her tracks.
Edebiri seemed to reference the controversy during an SNL sketch. During the sketch "Why'd You Say It?," Edebiri played Annie, a contestant on a game show in which people are asked to explain or attempt to justify comments they left on other people's Instagram posts.
"OK, OK! We get it. It's wrong to leave mean comments or post comments just for clout -- or run your mouth on a podcast and you don't consider the impact because you're 24 and stupid," Annie exclaimed. "But I think I speak for everyone when I say, from now on, we're going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online."
