The singer admits she was 'very wary' after everything she's been through with her past marriages.
Jennifer Lopez is getting candid on her relationship with fiancé Alex Rodriguez.
The "Medicine" singer was a guest on the Morning Mash Up on SiriusXM Hits 1 this week, where she revealed she was initially skeptical about the idea of marrying the former MLB star.
"I was very wary after everything I've been through," said Lopez, who was previously married to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd and Marc Anthony. "I was just sussing it out until then. I was like, 'I don't know, maybe yes, maybe no, I really love [Alex], I like him.' Everything seemed almost too perfect too soon, so I was like, 'Wait, what's happening?'"
"When it happened, I think it was the right time -- we knew," she added. "It's great to have a best friend and a partner you can really build with, and I just feel like, with Alex and I, that's what it's like. We're very similar ... it's one of those things, you meet a like-minded person who is trying to be the best person they can be and always trying to grow, and then they help you grow and you help them grow. I'm better here, he's better there and we're better together."
Rodriguez proposed to Lopez in March after two years of dating. "She said yes ♥️," he shared via Instagram at the time, alongside a photo of J.Lo's massive sparkler.
A source told ET that the couple's family and friends were not surprised by the engagement, as Lopez and Rodriguez have "always been on the same page" about wanting a longterm relationship.
"They have done a really good job of blending their families and making it known that one day they'd be married," the source said. "J.Lo and A-Rod are perfect for one another. They push each other to be better in all aspects of their life, and are incredible partners together."
"The couple has gotten more and more serious, buying property together and going into business together," the source added. "They're looking forward to being husband and wife."
