Jennifer Lawrence will produce and star in A24's 'Why Don't You Love Me?,' adapted from Paul B. Rainey's darkly comedic graphic novel.

Jennifer Lawrence is staying booked and busy.

It was announced on Tuesday that the Academy Award winner, 33, will team up with A24 to produce and star in Why Don't You Love Me?, a film adaptation of Paul B. Rainey’s 2023 graphic novel of the same name.

Why Don't You Love Me? is a dark comedy that follows a miserable couple, Claire and Mark, "struggling through their marriage while feeling like something is not quite right in their reality," teased A24. The graphic novel with a sci-fi twist has been described as "a pitch-black comedy about marriage, alcoholism, depression, and mourning lost opportunities."

Lawrence will produce Why Don't You Love Me? alongside Justine Ciarrocchi for her company, Excellent Cadaver, which she launched in 2018. Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen and Emily Hildner of Square Peg are also on board, alongside A24. Rainey will executive produce.

Robert Funke (On Becoming a God in Central Florida) is writing the screenplay, as the search for a director is underway.

"Not a dream! Not a hoax! Not a mental breakdown! A24 has optioned the rights to Why Don’t You Love Me? with plans to develop my graphic novel for film! Jennifer Lawrence is set to star. She is also set to produce with Ari Aster," Rainey excitedly tweeted.

This isn't the No Hard Feelings star's first A24 project. Last month, it was announced that Lawrence would produce and star in The Wives, a new murder mystery inspired by The Real Housewives and co-produced by Apple Studio and A24. Excellent Cadaver teamed up with A24 for the release of its first film, Causeway, a 2022 drama that starred Lawrence.
