Jelly Roll, nominated for two prestigious GRAMMY Awards, had an unexpected and memorable encounter with legendary musician Bruce Springsteen, stealing the spotlight during a red carpet interview at MusiCares' 33rd annual Person of the Year gala on Friday.
Jelly Roll, who received nods in the categories of Best New Artist and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for his soul-stirring rendition of "Save Me" with collaborator Lainey Wilson, took a moment to share the thrilling experience with ET's Cassie DiLaura.
During the interview, when asked about his evening, Jelly Roll couldn't contain his excitement, saying, "I met Bruce Springsteen earlier. I'm doing incredible. I met The Boss, dude. One on one, just me and him in the hallway."
The 39-year-old singer happily shared more details, explaining, "It was the most random thing ever. He was so nice. He introduced himself, which I thought was the coolest thing. If I was Bruce Springsteen, I'd never introduce myself. And if I did, I'd be like, 'I'm The Boss. Nice to meet you,' you know."
Jelly Roll expressed, "But he was such a kind spirit and so humble. I can't quit thinking about it, to be honest. Highlight of my GRAMMY week so far."
The singer had a significant night at the MusiCares Person of the Year gala when he took the stage to pay tribute to Jon Bon Jovi. The star-studded event included performances by music icons such as Springsteen, Paul McCartney, and Lenny Kravitz, who introduced Jelly Roll before his performance of "Bad Medicine."
Reflecting on the experience, Jelly Roll shared, "Dude, I thought they were joking when they were like, you, it's a Bon Jovi thing, and Jon wants you to sing this certain song. And I was like, Jon Bon Jovi? I was like, I'm a human and then I thought they were just like flattering me, you know, or something. You never know. But they said it was real."
