Jamie Lee Curtis Saves Cate Blanchett From Wardrobe Malfunction on Red Carpet: 'I've Got Her Back' (Exclusive)

Cate Blanchett got some help covering up from Jamie Lee Curtis as the 'Borderlands' co-stars spoke with ET on Tuesday.

Sometimes, it helps to have a bestie on the red carpet. This is a fact Cate Blanchett reminded everyone of when she had a minor wardrobe malfunction and got some help covering up from co-star Jamie Lee Curtis.

The pair walked the red carpet literally together at a special fan screening of their new action comedy Borderlands on Tuesday in Hollywood, and Blanchett was tearing up from laughter as she and Curtis spoke to ET's Denny Directo together while staying very close.

The pair tried to play off the delightfully playful moment by pretending there wasn't a problem with Blanchett's pants, and simply felt the moment was right for some friendly red-carpet spooning.

"Nothing is going on! You know what is going on? I got her back," Curtis said, as Blanchett laughed.

According to Blanchett, this sort of protective, supportive personality is just who Curtis is at her core, with all her co-stars.

"On every single movie that Jamie makes, she is the den mother," Blanchett shared with a smile.

Borderlands -- based on the best-selling video game franchise of the same name -- follows bounty hunter Lilith (Blanchett), who reluctantly returns to her chaotic "dumpster fire" of a home planet, Pandora, on an important mission -- to find the missing daughter of the powerful and dangerous Atlas (Edgar Ramírez).

Along the way, she forms a ragtag team that includes mercenary Roland (Kevin Hart), oddball scientist Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), wisecracking robot Claptrap (Jack Black), feral young demolitionist Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt) and her protector, Krieg (Florian Munteanu).

Borderlands also stars Gina Gershon, Cheyenne Jackson, Haley Bennett, Janina Gavankar, Bobby Lee, Olivier Richters, Charles Babalola, Benjamin Byron Davis, Steven Boyer, Ryann Redmond and Penn Jillette.

The film arrives in theaters on Aug. 9.
