James Marsden Says 'Dead to Me' Co-Star Christina Applegate Is 'Family to Me' at 2023 Emmys (Exclusive)

The actor, who is nominated for his role in the TV comedy 'Jury Duty,' spoke with ET on the red carpet on Monday.

James Marsden has nothing but love and praise for Christina Applegate as they both are up for awards at this year's Primetime Emmys.

The actor walked the red carpet at the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live on Monday, and spoke with ET's Kevin Frazier, who asked about possibly reuniting with his former Dead to Me co-star.

"It's amazing!" Marsden beamed. "I love seeing her nominated, I think she's presenting as well."

Applegate is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on Dead to Me, while Marsden is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on Jury Duty.

"I mean, she's family to me. We went through so much on the three seasons of that show," Marsden continued, "and she deserves everything. It just makes me so happy to see her here."

Meanwhile, Marsden walked the carpet solo on Monday, rocking a classic black tux, sans tie, and a beaming smile.

The red carpet appearance comes one day after Marsden walked the carpet at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards on Sunday. The Emmys were originally set to air in September, but due to the labor strikes, the show was pushed back to January, making for an awards season even more crowded than usual.

However, for Marsden, it actually seems to work out better.

"It's nice to ride the big wave all at once, actually," Marsden said of the slew of awards shows packed into a matter of weeks. "[I] kind of stay in the zone."

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, originally set to take place last September, was postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. Hosted by Anthony Anderson at L.A. Live's Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the ceremony will air live Monday, Jan. 15 at 5 p.m. PT, 8 p.m. ET on Fox, and will be streamed Tuesday, Jan. 16 on Hulu.
