West and manager Scooter Braun are set to executive produce the mind-bending new series.
Kanye West is living in the future, so the present is his past, but in his TV past, he's about to be embodied by Jaden Smith.
The rapper has signed on to executive produce a new limited Showtime anthology series, Omniverse, in which Smith is attached to star, ET confirms. The half-hour series, which will explore "the many doors of perception," will focus on the Ego in season one, through the lens of an alternate reality Kanye West, whose younger self will be played by Smith.
West's manager, Scooter Braun, is also set to executive produce with Undone EP Lee Sung Jin attached as a writer and executive producer. Smith's recent acting gigs include 2018's Skate Kitchen and the upcoming film Life in a Year, as well as starring roles in Netflix's Neo Yokio and The Get Down.
The young star has also been teasing the release of his new album, ERYS, the follow-up to his 2017 debut studio album, SYRE. In the year since SYRE's release, Smith has also released a mixtape, The Sunset Tapes, several remixes and a track on the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack titled "Way Up."
Both West and Smith also recently performed at the Coachella Music Festival, with Smith taking the stage alongside his dad, Will Smith, and sister, Willow. Check out what happened at West's highly anticipated Easter Sunday Service in the video below.
