Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel got engaged back in August 2023.
Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel's wedding plans are still up in the air.
ET's Nischelle Turner spoke to the groom-to-be ahead of the season premiere of his and twin brother Drew Scott's Celebrity IOU, and he shared why wedding planning hasn't been top of mind despite the fact that he and Zooey have been engaged for a year.
"I have no updates. I wish I had more exciting news. We just got back from Europe. We just had our daughter's birthday party, and then we had another event and a charity thing," Jonathan explained. "We don't even feel settled in yet, but we have determined that we are gonna figure it out soon."
Prior to her relationship with Jonathan, Zooey was married to Jacob Pechenik until 2019. The exes share Elsie, 9, and Charlie, 7, and Jonathan considers himself a "bonus dad" to both kids.
Jonathan and Zooey met while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke in August 2019.
"I just remember she had this incredible, energized demeaner," Jonathan told ET of his first meeting with his now-fiancée. "We hit it off right from the beginning."
Drew couldn't be happier that Jonathan has found love with Zooey, whom he believes is "so perfect" for his brother. Drew knows about love, as he's been with his wife, Linda Phan, "creeping up on 15 years." The couple, who tied the knot in 2015, are parents to Parker, 2, and Piper, 2 months.
"She is adorable. She has super deep dimples, which is the most adorable thing on a tiny little baby," Drew gushed of his newborn daughter. "Now she's at the age too where she'll like look at you. Before she's just in her own world, but now she's looking at you. I can make her laugh. I just sing a song or do something [and] she kind of giggles and laughs."
As for how Drew's son feels about his baby sister, the HGTV son said "Parker loves her."
"He just wants to nuzzle and kiss her," he said. "... When the baby [first] came along he was a little sort of skittish. It's almost like he thought that... she was gonna bite him or something. I'm like, 'She's not that big.' And then he started to get a little bit of jealousy and then he moved into loving her."
In the future, Drew said, "I hope he becomes that big brother that looks out for her. They're never gonna fight. I'm pretty sure they're never gonna fight."
In addition to their busy personal lives, the brothers have a packed professional schedule. Later this month, season 8 of Celebrity IOU will premiere. This season features a star-studded lineup. There's heartwarming Mandy Moore, Wanda Sykes with a flame thrower, Danny Trejo wielding a machete, and "beast" Jennifer Jason Leigh, to name a few.
"Every year I just can't wrap my brain around how we get this incredible roster of huge, huge celebrities who I know are these busy, successful people," Jonathan marveled, before promising that viewers "are gonna laugh until you cry, you're gonna cry until you laugh."
The brothers have no plans to slow down anytime soon, as they eye landing Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds for Celebrity IOU's next season.
"We're gonna continue to do what we do 'cause we love it. Everything we do focuses on families," Drew said, with Jonathan adding, "I like how we constantly are finding ways to evolve the shows and listening to the audience. There's no shortage of incredible celebrities, incredible stories. I feel like you're not gonna get rid of us anytime soon."
Celebrity IOU will premiere Monday, Aug. 12 on HGTV.
