Huma Abedin is sharing the happy news of her engagement to Alex Soros!
Huma Abedin is engaged!
On Wednesday, the political staffer and vice-chair of Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign, 47, announced her engagement to billionaire Alex Soros, an investor and philanthropist. The couple shared the happy news in a joint Instagram post.
"This happened…we couldn't be happier, more grateful, or more in love ❤️ 😍 💍," Soros, 38, captioned the announcement.
In the picture, the chairman of the Open Society Foundations can be seen on bended knee in front of a shocked Abedin, who reaches out for his hands while wearing a stunning, form-fitting white dress. Soros matches his now-fiancée in a light-colored suit.
Per Vogue, Soros popped the question to Abedin in late May at their shared New York City apartment and the couple celebrated further in Italy with a bigger party.
Vogue also shared the news on Instagram, revealing that Soros proposed to Abedin "at home in New York City in late May" with the couple having "a formal celebration in Italy" later.
In the comments, the couple's famous friends celebrated their engagement and congratulated them on the happy news.
"Congratulations," wrote The Bachelotte alum Tayshia Adams.
"I'm crying .. I'm so so happy for you Alex ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️," replied Jeannie Mai.
Vogue also reported that the pair "met last fall at a mutual friend's birthday party, where they quickly discovered their mutual interests in politics and public service."
Abedin was previously married to U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner from 2010 to 2017 prior to his cheating scandal. More recently, she was linked in 2022 to film and television actor Bradley Cooper, who is now dating supermodel Gigi Hadid.
