From the director of ‘Bao,’ Pixar’s newest film follows a 13-year-old girl with some big (and fluffy) problems.
Growing up is definitely weird. And, it can be even weirder if every time you experience a rush of emotions, you turn into a giant fluffy red panda —- it's quite the dilemma. Pixar’s latest film, Turning Red, tackles this peculiar issue in a humorous and heartwarming story.
Mei Lee is your typical 13-year-old girl; she loves her family, friends and the boy-band, 4*Town. She’s going through all the usual struggles of becoming a teenager, including a lot of new and complicated emotions. Only for Mei, when those emotions get to be too much, she transforms into a huge red panda. Intrigued by the storyline? Well, Turning Red is headed straight to streaming on Disney+ on Friday, March 11!
The animated family film stars Rosalie Chiang and Sandra Oh, and the newest Pixar movie features three new original songs from the GRAMMY-winning sibling duo, Billie Eilish and Finneas. Finneas, who was no stranger to acting prior to his music career, also voices one of the members of the boyband group, 4*Town, in the film.
Turning Red’s director and co-writer, Domee Shi, is also known for the Oscar-winning Pixar short, Bao, as well as her work on Inside Out, Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4. Turning Red is her feature-length directorial debut. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about how to watch this adorable and impactful coming-of-age story.
