The NFL preseason begins this week. Here's how to watch every upcoming football game.

At the beginning of this month, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game launched the 2024 NFL Preseason. The Chicago Bears had a narrow lead versus the Houston Texans during the HOF game, with a final score of 21-17. After a taste of what this season could have in store, we're even more excited to get the 2024-2025 NFL season started.

The first NFL preseason games will take place on Thursday, August 8, 2024, with two games kicking off the first preseason week. The Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots will go head to head, as will the Detroit Lions and NY Giants. One of the easiest ways to catch most of the preseason action is with a subscription to NFL+

During NFL preseason, football fans will get to see which teams are shaping up to be the toughest competition of the season. Rookies — like the Bears' Caleb Williams, the Washington Commanders' Jayden Daniels and the Patriots' Drake Maye — will get to prove themselves on the field. Predicted top players for the year include Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Cleveland Browns defensive player Myles Garrett and the 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams. Of course, top picks could bust leaving room for sleepers to emerge — all the fun comes with actually watching to find out.

If you've been waiting all summer for the professional American football games to begin, here's everything to know about watching the NFL preseason, including the streaming schedule, matchups, dates and more.

When does the 2024 NFL Preseason begin?

Many consider the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game the official start of the NFL preseason, but it is more like the pre-preseason game. The official first week of the NFL preseason begins on Thursday, August 8 at 7:00 p.m. ET. There will be two games at this time, including Carolina vs. New England and the Detroit Lions vs. the New York Giants.
