"And then when we started talking about music, things started sparking and he was being funny enough, not flirtatious, but funny enough to where we started creating a banter and a nice friendship right off the bat," she added.

June 2018: Baby on the Way
Several months later, Duff revealed that she and Koma were taking the next step in their romance by starting a family.

"I mean, our baby is 10 weeks old and I obviously have a 6-year-old too, so we're, like, full parents right now," she continued. "I'm really happy, he's amazing, and I mean, honestly, we don't really want to leave the house that much these days. We just stare at our baby and we're like, 'Look what we made. We did this.' And he's such an amazing dad and so supportive and I just feel very happy."
May 2019: Koma Proposes
While Duff told ET in January 2019 that she and Koma were "not thinking about" getting engaged, the musician popped the question just five months later. In her December 2019 interview with Vogue, Duff recalled the night Koma proposed in a park near their New York City apartment.
"I'd had a very long day. I think my call time that morning was 4:00 a.m., and by the time I got home, our daughter was already asleep," she remembered. "We love to take walks together, and so he's like, 'Let's go on a walk, you had a day. Let's just get out and chat and catch up, there's this new park I want to take you to, and it's supposed to be gorgeous.'"
Duff agreed, and, while on their walk, Koma "all of a sudden said, "I've been working on something for you, and you're going to love it. I really want our kids to know our story and now we can keep adding to this book.'"
He presented her with a notebook full of illustrated sketches of them.
"It's our whole entire story mapped out for us to refer back to as we get older and for our kids to know, which is amazing," she said. "I get to the very last page, and there's a little piece that I have to lift up and my ring was inside. It was so sweet. It was really special and really simple, which is very much how we are and how we operate. Then it started raining, and it was perfect."

"When I asked you to be my wife, we had no idea our first year would look like this...They always say 'the first year is the hardest,' but in our case it was for completely different reasons and I'm so in awe of your bada**ery. How you're able to be the mom, individual, wife, spirit, and tie dye influencer you are, while making it look so easy is mind boggling and I don't know what I did right to deserve being on the receiving end of it."
"Thank you for being the most steady, supportive, empathetic, loving, and passionate. Thank you for the endless hours of indulging my obsession with deceased songwriters and pretending it interests you," he continued. "Thank you for making me drink water and eat breakfast. You make me so much better. You make our family what it is. You're the only thing that makes me cry through the Prozac. I love you."
Duff expressed a similar sentiment, sharing a photo of herself and Koma chowing down at their wedding.
"I love this moment so much. Matt and I were both too nervous to eat the day of our wedding .. this is directly after ....we slammed a plate of apps someone brought us before taking pictures and this pretty much sums us up," she wrote. "Snacking through life, dreaming about dinner at 7 am and wrangling kids. Oh, and dodging COVID the first year of marriage. Always with you babe."
"For you. Over and over I choose you and this," Duff continued. "Thank you for being a damn good man. Best I've ever met 12-21-19 Thanks for drinking two cups of water today... baby steps Old dogs can learn new tricks."

Months into life with a third child, Duff posted a birthday tribute to her husband.
"Matthew, My dedications can't touch yours. Mostly I just want to say thank you.... For being my best friend. Giving 1000 percent to our kids," she wrote. "Whenever there's a tiny hint of something going on with me you drop everything to make me feel like it's valid and important and that feels really nice(I'm a poet, I know). But it's the humor for me. ..sometimes I don't even feel worthy of your sophisticated trolls, how lucky I am to be the chosen one."
"That face.... with the brains. Mmm mmm mmm I am forever surprised/ impressed/ and learning from you as we journey through all this life stuff together," Duff continued. "Thank you for being the coziest safest blanket for us to all rest our head. Nobody else I'd rather go through the trenches with bubba. HBD love you papa. Who's 34! Oh! And when you sit down and get really serious trying to do Banks' hair.... I really like that too. Slays right through me."
September 2021: Another Birthday Tribute
Koma returned the loving birthday sentiments shortly thereafter, noting, "It's wifey’s birthday in a few days and it only feels right to let her have the whole week to soak up the birthday love."
"Ba, I truly don’t know how you do it all - the backbone of our family and the Stevie of our Fleet. There aren't enough hours in the day, but you make more…there's never enough sleep, but you find the energy…I'm really the luckiest to get to do this life thing with you," he wrote. "The easy days and the absolute s**t storms we're constantly navigating…You're never phased and you give so much of yourself to us. And you still manage to be the coolest f**king individual outside of all that."
"We're all totally humbled by the wide strokes you're able to paint while we're still trying to tie our shoes. I hope this year allows you some of the best memories yet…we'll be here to cheer you on as you reach for every little dream cloud you come up with while we're talking in bed at night," Koma continued. "Happy birthday to the greatest wifey, mom, and snacking partner there is…but also thank god you were born because we'd be so f**ked. Love you. Also my full body hive is better so we can bone down tonight."
December 2022: Their Third Anniversary
When the couple's third anniversary rolled around in December 2022, both Duff and Koma took to Instagram to celebrate the milestone.
"Matthew. I love you so much. Happy 3 years! I don't know if you knew what you were getting into or that you weren't going to sleep or sit down for the next 5-10 years but I think for the most part you're pretty happy about it," Duff wrote. "Our life is so full and I'm over the top grateful for the guy that I got to do all this madness with."
In his post, Koma praised himself and Duff for how they "crushed three years."
"Anyone who says marriage is easy, hasn't been married or is raging slightly too high a microdose. But the work is the best part," he wrote. "The beauty truly is in going deeper with someone than you've ever been before and navigating an invisible map that only the two of you can trek. The hard stuff makes the great stuff even greater."
"Thank you ba for loving me. I know that isn't always easy. Thank you for listening to every version of Springsteen doing 'Santa Clause Is Coming To Town' this time of year and pretending you know what I mean when I scream 'Clarance.' Thank you for letting me keep 6 beverages on my nightstand. Thank you for traveling to see Dawes with me in foreign countries," Koma continued. "Thank you for raising our very cute and very unstable three kids. Thank you for being so hot and letting me do things to the body. It's so sick. When you leave me for Harry, I'll totally understand and I hope our kids get his fashion sense and that he loves going to sleep at 6pm as much as you. You’re not allowed to look at pictures of Matt Healy tho."
November 2023: Keeping Their Relationship Strong
In a 2023 interview with Women's Health, Duff revealed how she and Koma keep their relationship strong.
"I play tennis every Sunday. My husband and I have that together, which is really nice," she said. "About two years ago, I told him, 'Here's the deal: We need a sport so we still like each other when the kids leave the house.' So now, we ski, which is obviously seasonal. And we play tennis together, which is really fun."
December 2023: Baby on the Way... Again! And Another Anniversary!
The couple announced that they're expecting their third child together by sharing their holiday card.
"So much for silent nights!" the card read. "Happy Holidays! Buckle up Buttercups, we're adding one more to this crazy bunch!"
Amid the chaos, the couple kept their anniversary tributes short and sweet.
"Even though sometimes you think it goes kids, dogs, then you. That’s not true. You forgot about the chickens…." Duff wrote. "Happy 4 babe!"
"4 years married today and I’m just now finding out my wife thinks a bunch of U2 songs are Creed," Koma teased. "I love you so much @hilaryduff."
