The first official trailer debuted during Thursday's episode of 'Grey's.'
The trailer for Station 19 is here!
Grey's Anatomy's firefighter spinoff released the first official footage from the anticipated series on Thursday. From the looks of the two-minute trailer, Station 19 -- set just three blocks down from Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital -- is going to be just as juicy and explosive as the flagship medical drama, with its wealth of sexy love triangles, harrowing cases of the week and life-and-death stakes.
Led by Jaina Lee Ortiz and Grey’s vet Jason George, the 10-episode spinoff follows a group of firefighters at Seattle Fire Station 19 as they risk their lives and hearts both in the line of duty and off the clock. Grey Damon, Barrett Doss, Alberto Frezza, Jay Hayden, Okieriete Onaodowan, Danielle Savre and Miguel Sandoval also star, with a special appearance by Grey's leading lady Ellen Pompeo.
The trailer also reveals the jumping-off point for the series, which kicks into high gear when Ortiz's Andy Herrera nearly loses her father, Captain Pruitt Herrera (Sandoval) during a fire rescue, prompting him to reluctantly hand over the reins to his daughter. Complicating matters is the fact that Andy has unfinished business with Jack (Damon), a lieutenant at the station with whom she has romantic ties, and old friend/former fling Ryan (Frezza), a Seattle police officer.
As Andy tells the crew the end of the trailer: "We're Seattle firefighters. Station 19 is where we choose to be." Something tells us we're in for a wild ride.
Creator Stacy McKee promised in January that the world in which these characters live and operate in is very much "Grey's Anatomy adjacent."
“It was a priority for me in thinking of this as a Grey’s Anatomy spinoff that it works hand in hand with Grey’s in tone and intensity and humor and heart. But there’s also the added element to this show that the hospital setting doesn’t allow, which is a lot of our characters on-site,” McKee said at the time. "They’re in the middle of action sequences, so there’s a certain level of adrenaline and energy that comes with that that you don’t necessarily find in the same way as Grey’s -- you find it in different ways. It’s very similar in tone and spirit, but also a little bit different as well."
