Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach Get Married After 12 Years Together

The couple and 'Barbie' co-writers exchanged vows in a low-key ceremony at New York City Hall.

Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach have officially exchanged vows in a low-key ceremony at New York City Hall, according to multiple reports

The couple, who first met on the set of the 2010 film Greenberg and began dating in 2011, have now taken their relationship to the next level.

This news comes in the wake of an eventful year for the couple, who not only co-wrote the screenplay for the Barbie movie but also shared the joyous revelation of quietly welcoming their second child, a son, as disclosed in a July interview with ELLE UK. The couple's first child, Harold Ralph Gerwig Baumbach, was born in March 2019.

Gerwig, 40, and Baumbach, 54, have been an influential force in the film industry, earning individual Oscar nominations in 2020. Baumbach received nods for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay for his film, Marriage Story, while Gerwig secured a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for her directorial effort in Little Women

Their collaboration extends beyond the personal realm, with the dynamic duo working side by side on numerous projects. In a December 2020 interview with Vogue, Baumbach expressed the pleasure of sharing creative endeavors with Gerwig, stating, "I don't want to sound sickeningly happy, but it's a truly great thing to watch someone you love make something and love the thing they make."

The couple's latest joint project, the screenplay for the Barbie movie, initially faced some hesitation from Baumbach. However, in a revealing Q&A with Gerwig in October, he admitted that it eventually became the "best thing we've ever written."

Baumbach acknowledged the importance of following Gerwig's lead, stating, "I know enough always just to follow what Greta says, so even in my bellyaching and revolting, I kind of knew, 'Well if she really believes it, then there's something there.'"
