Rory McIIroy and Erica Stoll share 3-year-old daughter, Poppy.
Rory McIlroy has filed for divorce from his wife of seven years, Erica Stoll. ET has learned that the professional golfer filed for divorce on Monday in Florida.
"Rory McIlroy’s communications team confirmed today that a divorce has been filed," a statement shared with ET read. "They stressed Rory's desire to ensure this difficult time is as respectful and amicable as possible. He will not be making any further comment."
The former pair share 3-year-old daughter Poppy Kennedy McIlroy, whom they welcomed in August 2020.
TMZ Sports was the first to report the news, noting that the reason for the filing is unknown at this time.
The estranged couple's last public appearance together took place in October 2023 at the Ryder Cup finals in Rome, Italy. The two were all smiles during their outing, packing on some PDA in front of photographers.
Erica and Poppy even cheered Rory on during the Masters back in April 2023, posing with the athlete on the green in Augusta, Georgia.
But in recent months, Erica and Rory have not been spotted out together, nor has Erica or Poppy been featured on Rory's Instagram account.
Erica and Rory met in 2012 at the Ryder Cup when he was dating tennis pro Caroline Wozniacki. After a brief engagement, Rory and Caroline called things off in 2014 and shortly after he reportedly began dating Erica.
Rory and Erica tied the knot in 2017 in Ireland with high-profile guests like Niall Horan, Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran and more in attendance.
