Gisele Bündchen 'Upset and Hurt' by Jokes About Her and Tom Brady Marriage During His Roast, Source Says

The model and former NFL quarterback's marriage was a major target during his Netflix roast.

Tom Brady may have chuckled a bit here and there, but Gisele Bündchen found nothing funny about their decade-plus marriage being the butt of a joke during a three-hour-long roast broadcast to millions of people on Netflix.

A source tells ET that "Gisele was upset and hurt by some of the jokes about her, her relationship with [boyfriend] Joaquim [Valente], and her marriage to Tom during his roast." The source added, "Her main concern is always her children and family and she wants to protect them. She found some of the jokes to be distasteful and disrespectful."

While a lot of the jokes directed at the failed marriage caused Brady to cringe every now and then during The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, only one topic appeared to be off limits for the seven-time Super Bowl champion. No, it wasn't the constant jokes about him and the mother of their two children -- Benjamin and Vivian -- but rather a jab at New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Audience members and viewers watching the live event appeared stunned when Brady stood up and delivered a stern warning to Jeff Ross -- telling him, "Don't say that s**t again" -- after the Roastmaster General made a joke in reference to Kraft's 2019 incident in which he was charged with soliciting prostitution in a Florida massage parlor. He was cleared of all charges.

In any event, it was only two months ago when the supermodel appeared on ABC News with Robin Roberts and choked up before turning away from the camera and asking for a break as she recounted her marriage with the NFL legend. She also addressed co-parenting their children following their 2022 split.

"I think, you know, there’s easier days than others and I can only control what I do," she told Roberts of co-parenting. Together, she and Brady share son Benjamin and daughter Vivian. Brady is also dad to son Jack with his ex, Bridget Moynahan.

Bündchen also told Roberts, "Everything I've experienced, it made me realize what I want and what I don't want."

She added, "At the end of the day, if you're not truthful to who you are, then it doesn't work."

While just about everyone -- including former New England Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe -- who took the mic and participated in the roast, took a jab at Brady's failed marriage, Bündchen had been forced to defend herself in interviews leading up to the live Netflix event.

Like when she spoke to the New York Times and vehemently denied rumors she cheated on Brady during their marriage.

The outlet reported that "in no uncertain terms, [Bündchen] refuted the charge that she had cheated: 'That is a lie.'"

Bündchen also said, "I really don't want to make my life a tabloid. I don't want to open myself up to all of that."

As ET reported in February, a source said Bündchen and Valente had transitioned from friends to romantic partners. The source also said that the relationship between them evolved gradually since they initially connected as friends.

In that same interview with The Times, Bündchen said that starting out as friends is what makes her new relationship so unique.

"This is the first time I am seeing someone that was a friend of mine first," she told the outlet. "It's very different. It is very honest, and it’s very transparent."
