Ghostbusters was released on June 8, 1984. The film stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts. The film takes place in New York City, where a group of parapsychologists band together to save the city from ghosts that are causing destruction. Bill Murray - Dr. Peter Venkman
Bill Murray plays Dr. Peter Venkman, a parapsychologist. He and two other parapsychologists start a business together catching ghosts called Ghostbusters after they are fired from Columbia University.
Dan Aykroyd - Dr. Raymond Stantz
Dan Aykroyd plays Dr. Raymond Stantz, one of Dr. Peter Venkman's work colleagues who helps start the Ghostbusters business.
Harold Ramis - Dr. Egon Spengler
Harold Ramis plays Dr. Egon Spengler, who is part of the trio of parapsychologists that creates Ghostbusters. He helps Dr. Raymond Stantz and Dr. Peter Venkman hunt ghosts in New York City.
Ernie Hudson - Winston Zeddemore
Ernie Hudson plays Winston Zeddemore, who is hired on by the Ghostbusters team because of the high demand of ghosts in need of capturing.
Rick Moranis - Louis Tully
Rick Moranis plays Louis Tully, who lives in the Shandor Building, where he becomes possessed by an entity that lives there. As he wreaks havoc on the city, the team of Ghostbusters are on the case.
Sigourney Weaver - Dana Barrett
Sigourney Weaver plays Dana Barrett, who also lives in the Shandor Building down the hall from Louis Tully. She also becomes a victim of one of the entities living in the building.
David Margulies - Mayor
David Margulies plays New York City's mayor.
Annie Potts - Janine Melnitz
Annie Potts plays Janine Melnitz, the Ghostbusters' secretary.
