There have been many installations of Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise over the years, but few have delivered a cast of characters quite as compelling as the ladies of Salt Lake City — and the show has only been on since late 2020.
Over the course of its two seasons, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has been filled with drama surrounding the Mormon church, sister wives, shady business dealings and questionable relationships. And you can bet there have been more than a few drinks thrown.
So what exactly are the main cast members and their relatives up to these days? Let’s just say a lot has changed since the Season 1 premiere. Read on to find out the latest legal drama, marital problems and more.
Jen Shah: Then
With her loud personality and even louder fashion choices, Jen Shah is the undeniable break-out star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
While Jen spent most of Season 1 starting fights and throwing drinks, she toned things down ever so slightly in Season 2. That’s not to say there wasn’t plenty of other drama surrounding the reality star, however...
Jen Shah: Now
One of the highlights of Season 2 occurred in episode 8, when the feds showed up to bring Jen in for questioning right as the ladies were heading out for a weekend trip to Vail. (Jen had left the scene just minutes before the police arrived.)
Jen ended up getting arrested on federal charges of money laundering and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. She has been accused of running a decade-long, nationwide telemarketing scheme that targeted people over the age of 55.
Jen Shah: What happens next
Jen pleaded not guilty in April 2022 — not surprising, considering she maintained her innocence several times during the Season 2 reunion.
After numerous delays, the trial is expected to happen this July.
Heather Gay: Then
With her self-deprecating humor and honestly about being raised in — and subsequently excommunicated from — the Mormon church, Heather Gay is an undeniable fan favorite.
Even Rihanna loves her!
Heather Gay: Now
Heather has managed to steer clear of any self-manufactured drama during the two seasons, focusing instead on her daughters and burgeoning beauty business.
She frequently posts about her family and company, Beauty Lab + Laser, on Instagram.
Heather Gay: What's next
Heather is geared up to return as a main cast member for Season 3.
She has also written a memoir called Bad Mormon, which is scheduled to be released on January 10, 2023.
Whitney Rose: Then
Whitney Rose (distant cousin to Heather Gay) made a name for herself as a main cast member, known for her quiet confidence and sex positivity.
Aside from memorably pole dancing at her vow renewals in the premiere of Season 1, Whitney’s stand-out moments across both seasons include trying to help her dad get sober and calling out fellow cast members’ shady behavior.
Whitney Rose: Now
Whitney rebranded her skincare line (now called Wild Rose Beauty) in 2021, and promotes the products frequently on her personal Instagram page.
Whitney is another confirmed cast member for Season 3.
Lisa Barlow: Then
Lisa Barlow has been a main cast member for both seasons of Salt Lake City. Born in New York but a Utah resident for 20+ years, she referred to herself several times as “Mormon 2.0.”
Lisa’s role became a bit more villainous in Season 2. She feuded with nearly every other housewife, but most memorable was her “hot mic” tirade toward the end of the season — an expletive-filled rant against fellow cast member Meredith Marks.
Lisa Barlow: Now
Even after the cameras stop rolling, Lisa continues to stir the pot.
Just a few weeks ago, she cryptically tweeted, “Stop being a miserable f–k- it’s really not attractive.” Heather Gay used similar language in a follow-up Instagram story and tagged Meredith and Jen, implying that Lisa’s original barb was aimed at the housewives.
Meredith Marks: Then
Meredith Marks made her, well, mark in Season 1 as one of the classiest, most composed housewives to date.
Despite some rough spots with her husband, Seth, and understandable clashes with Jen Shah and Lisa Barlow, Meredith always kept a level head (and even rocked a face mask way before it was cool).
Meredith Marks: Now
During the Season 2 reunion, Meredith was visibly shaken by Lisa’s aforementioned hot mic rant, as well as the death of her father in 2021.
She is still returning as a Season 3 cast member, however, and frequently posts happy pictures of her family on Instagram.
Mary Cosby: Then
Mary Cosby has a storyline so bonkers, it could only be seen on Bravo: She is married to her late grandmother’s second husband, aka her own step-grandfather.
This fact — paired with her role as "first lady" at a Pentecostal church in Utah, clashes with other housewives, and racist and derogatory remarks throughout Season 2 — made her one of the most compelling characters to come out of Salt Lake City.
Mary Cosby: Now
Some serious rumors about Mary’s church began circulating during Season 2 (namely that the church is a cult), and she refused to show up for the reunion episodes.
Real Housewives fans know that not attending the reunion is something of a death sentence for cast members. Indeed, Mary will not be returning for Season 3.
Mary Cosby: What's next
According to Meredith Marks, Mary is doing quite well despite leaving the show.
“She's doing great,” Meredith told E! News in April. “She's very happy. She’s at peace with everything.”
Jennie Nguyen: Then
Jennie Nguyen was a new cast member for Season 2, and she quickly made a name for herself with her bold, outspoken personality.
Her relationship with her husband, Duy, was a highlight of the season. The couple clashed about expanding their family (Jennie didn’t want to, since she had suffered numerous miscarriages over the years and gave birth to a stillborn baby), which caused Duy to make shocking comments about getting a sister wife just so he could have more children.
Jennie Nguyen: Now
In early 2022, Jennie was fired from Real Housewives after racist posts from her old Facebook account resurfaced. The posts (originally published in 2020) criticized the national Black Lives Matter protests that followed the murder of George Floyd and promoted “White Lives Matter” ideologies.
Needless to say, Jennie will not appear in Season 3.
Jennie Nguyen: What's next
Despite no longer appearing on the show, Jennie is very active on social media and frequently shares photos of family.
Jennie, Duy and their three children recently took a trip to Las Vegas. Jennie posted about it on Instagram, writing, “the kids and I had an amazing time.”
Sharrieff Shah: Then
Jen Shaw’s husband (known as “Coach Shah,” due to his job as a college football coach) wasn’t seen too much in Season 1, but Sharrieff still won hearts thanks to his unfaltering loyalty to his wife.
During the Season 2 premiere, Jen revealed that she and Sharrieff almost got a divorce a few months prior. “Sharrieff felt like he wasn't being a positive influence in my life, like he couldn't help me,” Jen told fellow cast member, Lisa Barlow. “I was devastated.”
Sharrieff Shah: Now
In a September 2021 episode of Bravo’s Spilling Iced Tea, Jen said that she and Sharrieff had attended marriage counseling and things were continuing to improve.
Coach Shah also attended the Season 2 reunion of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City in March, showing support for Jen when asked about her arrest and trial.
Sharrieff Shah, cont.
When host Andy Cohen asked Sharrieff if he ever doubted Jen after her arrest, he replied, “I looked at her, I told her, I said, ‘Listen, this is going to be tough, and whatever it is, we're going to deal with it'.”
Meanwhile, he continues to retweet football posts from his employer, the University of Utah.
Justin Rose: Then
Whitney Rose’s marriage to her husband, Justin, was on full display in Season 1.
As we learned in the season premiere, the couple started an office romance while they were both married to other people. Their affair caused them both to be excommunicated from the Mormon church.
Justin Rose: Now
Justin and Whiney’s marriage is still going strong today.
Justin lost his job back in March, which he detailed in an emotional Facebook post. He seems to still be fairly happy, however, as evidenced by the many photos and videos of his wife and family on Instagram.
John Barlow: Then
John Barlow may not be the chattiest househusband, but he always appeared to be a supportive partner to his wife, Lisa Barlow.
He and Lisa got married in 2003, and the couple are co-owners of Vida Tequila.
John Barlow: Now
This past Father’s Day, Lisa sang John’s praises on Instagram.
“JOHN BARLOW is the most amazing dad,” Lisa wrote in the caption. “He leads by example. He’s hardworking, strong, dedicated, kind, witty and handsome. He is our most favorite person in the world and we are beyond blessed to have him as ours."
Seth Marks: Then
Meredith’s husband traveled a lot for work during Season 1 (which caused much of their marital strain), but he was much more of a visible presence in Season 2.
This wasn’t exactly great news to fans, however. Many Housewives viewers have expressed disgust over Seth’s continuous stream of sexist remarks throughout both seasons.
Seth Marks: Now
Seth and Meredith are still going strong, and the househusband doesn’t seem to be leaving anytime soon.
While Seth’s Instagram account is set to private, Meredith just posted a date night pic with him recently on her Instagram.
Brooks Marks: Then
Aside from the main cast members, Brooks Marks (son of Meredith) is probably the biggest star to emerge from Salt Lake City.
Throughout the two seasons, Brooks became a fan favorite with his witty commentary and trendy clothing line. His clash with Jen Shah was also a Season 2 highlight — Jen allegedly "liked" homophobic posts about Brooks on social media (though she claimed it was one of her assistants who pushed the buttons) but the two sat down and worked things out in episode 5.
Brooks Marks: Now
Brooks is busy managing his eponymous streetwear line, which he promotes on social media.
He also recently graduated from NYU, as evidenced by Meredith’s congratulatory Instagram post from early June.
Duy Tran: Then
Husband to main cast member Jennie Nguyen, Duy Tran is a chiropractor and father to three children.
He was the subject of controversy during his Season 2 run, after he continuously tried to pressure Jennie into having more children and threatened to get a sister wife if she wouldn’t comply.
Duy Tran: Now
Duy stopped by the Season 2 reunion, revealing that he began attending therapy to deal with his trauma over losing a child.
Seeing as Jennie is gone from the show, we can assume that Duy’s screen time has also reached an end.
Robert Cosby Sr.: Then
Mary Cosby’s marriage to her step-grandfather, Robert Cosby Sr., is one of the most shocking details of Salt Lake City.
Robert didn’t have many appearances throughout the first two seasons of the show, but the mere facts surrounding his relationship with Mary made him a memorable character.
Robert Cosby Sr.: Now
Robert and Mary have been married for more than 20 years and have a son, Robert Jr., together.
Robert Sr. doesn’t have an online presence and Mary doesn’t post about him on her Instagram, so we can only assume he is still living a quiet life in Salt Lake City.
Angie Harrington: Then
She may not be a main cast member, but Angie Harrington was at the center of the show’s drama in the early episodes of Season 2.
In episode 4, Whitney convinced Angie that Lisa Barlow sabotaged her fundraiser by persuading the catering company to back out of the event. Lisa vehemently denied the rumor, but it still caused a rift in several friendships on the show.
Angie Harrington: Now
Angie also stood out in Season 2 for her support of the LGBTQ+ community. In fact, she left the Mormon church because she knew the community would not welcome her son, who is transgender.
She publishes Pride-related posts frequently on Instagram, as well as content about fashion and beauty.
Stuart Smith: Then
Stuart Smith first appeared as Jen Shah’s “first assistant” (yes, she has many assistants) in Season 1.
His name came up a lot more the following season, as he was arrested on the same charges as Jen.
Stuart Smith: Now
In Season 2, episode 13 of the RHOSLC After Show, Jen revealed that she and Stuart were arrested on the same day, but they are no longer speaking to each other.
While both parties originally pleaded not guilty, Stuart changed his plea to guilty in November 2021.
Stuart Smith, cont.
Like Jen, Stuart is still awaiting sentencing.
According to Us Weekly, he faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
Robert Cosby Jr.: Then
Robert is the son of Mary Cosby and Robert Cosby Sr.
He only appeared in a few scenes across both seasons of Salt Lake City.
Robert Cosby Jr.: Now
According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Robert Jr. was recently charged with “two misdemeanor counts of providing shelter to a runaway and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.”
The issue arose when police were called about Robert’s girlfriend being over at the Cosbys’ home, but all charges were dropped in February.
Jack Barlow: Then
Jack is Lisa Barlow’s oldest son.
He appeared on several episodes in both seasons of Salt Lake City, most notably in scenes where Lisa helped her sons launch their line of men’s grooming products, Fresh Wolf.
Jack Barlow: Now
Jack promotes Fresh Wolf pretty frequently on Instagram, posting videos and photos of himself using the products.
He also has a story highlight on his personal page of Andy Cohen personally endorsing some Fresh Wolf body wash.
Henry Barlow: Then
Henry Barlow is Lisa’s youngest son.
Like Jack, Henry appeared in a few episodes of both seasons. He is also a co-founder and co-owner of Fresh Wolf, though Jack seems to be more heavily involved in the company.
Henry Barlow: Now
Henry doesn’t seem to have his own social media accounts, but he does make appearances on his family members’ pages.
Just a few days ago, Fresh Wolf’s account posted a photo of Henry, Jack, and John Barlow for Father’s Day. The caption read, “Happy Father’s Day to our dad [John] and all of the other fathers out there!”
Ashley Gay: Then
Ashley Gay is the oldest of Heather’s three daughters.
She showed up in Season 1, but she was a much bigger presence in Season 2. Many of Heather’s episodes revolved around helping Ashley decide on where to go to college and stumbling through giving her daughter “the talk."
Ashley Gay: Now
Ashley started her freshman year at The University of California, Santa Barbara in the fall of 2021.
She also celebrated her 19th birthday this past May. Heather shared several photos of Ashley on her Instagram page on the big day.
Georgia Gay: Then
Georgia Gay is Heather’s middle daughter.
She has not had as much screen time as older sister Ashley, but she still shows up in many of Heather’s scenes both at home and at Beauty Lab + Laser.
Georgia Gay: Now
Georgia has her own Instagram account, where she posts photos of her friends and family about once a month. (Like Heather, she also wished Ashley a happy birthday on May 28.)
Georgia celebrated her sweet 16 this past February.
Murilo Bueno: Then
Murilo Bueno was introduced in the Season 1 premiere as Jen Shaw’s “third assistant.”
He only appeared in a few more episodes, but his name got a huge boost during Jen’s legal drama in Season 2 — namely when Meredith Marks told the story about one of Jen’s assistants stealing a green clutch from her store in episode 10.
Murilo Bueno: Now
While the assistant’s name was bleeped out during Meredith’s story, Murilo essentially outed himself as the accused when he denied the accusations on Instagram following the episode’s airing.
He seems to have moved on since then, posting primarily fashion and fitness selfies on Instagram.
