It's no secret that reality television has taken the country by storm. It's addicting and there's a ton of it, making it easy to binge and marathon. Regardless of your interests, there seems to be a reality show for everyone. In November 2017, the folks over at CableTV.com decided to do a little research to find out what the most popular reality shows were in each state.
By analyzing Google Trends data, they were able to determine which show each state loved the most.
Alabama: 'American Idol'
The popular singing competition show has been on the air since 2002 and launched the careers of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson.
Alaska: 'Naked and Afraid'
Each episode centers around two contestants trying to survive in the wilderness for 21 days, both completely naked. The show is currently in its ninth season.
Arizona: 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians'
Keeping up with America’s most famous family is easy when cameras follow them around everywhere. E!’s most well-known reality show first premiered in 2007.
Arkansas: 'Naked and Afraid'
The show is so popular that for 2018’s Shark Week, a two-hour special was created called Naked and Afraid of Sharks. Five former survivalists from Discovery’s reality show are stranded on an island surrounded by the most shark-infested waters.
California: 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians'
The selfie-loving sisters aren’t the only famous faces on the show. Kanye West, Kim Kardashian’s husband, often appears in the more recent seasons.
Colorado: 'Bachelor in Paradise'
Hosted by Chris Harrison, this Bachelor spinoff features popular contestants from previous seasons as they compete for love in a gorgeous, tropical setting.
Connecticut: 'Dance Moms'
Children’s dance competitions are not something to be taken lightly. The show is primarily filmed at the Abby Lee Dance Company studio.
Delaware: '16 and Pregnant'
Though it’s no longer on the air, the folks of Delaware still love MTV’s documentary series that chronicles the lives of young, pregnant teens.
Florida: 'Fear Factor'
The stunt/dare game show is the show that never dies. It’s been canceled twice, but in 2017 was revived by MTV and is currently hosted by Ludacris.
Georgia: 'The Real Housewives'
Bravo’s iconic franchise continually proves that people love watching rich women fight. The Atlanta installment of Bravo’s hit series has been on the air since 2008.
Hawaii: 'Top Chef'
The cooking competition series has had a number of spinoffs, including Top Chef Junior, Top Chef: Desserts and Top Chef Duels. Judges have included Anthony Bourdain, Emeril Lagasse and Wolfgang Puck.
Idaho: 'The Apprentice'
It’s the show that made everyone exhausted from the phrase, “You’re fired!” Originally hosted by Donald Trump, the series has since spawned a ton of international spinoffs.
Illinois: 'Dancing With the Stars'
Who wouldn’t want to watch their favorite celebrities compete with one another by performing intricate dances? Previous contestants include Vivica A. Fox, Mario Lopez, Mark Cuban, Lil’ Kim and Zendaya.
Indiana: 'Dancing With the Stars'
The show has also launched the career of several dancers, including brother-sister duo Julianne and Derek Hough.
Iowa: 'Dancing With the Stars'
The 27th season of the show is set to premiere in September 2018. A spinoff, Dancing with the Stars: Juniors is premiering in October 2018.
Kansas: 'Hunted'
In the ultimate game of hide and seek, nine teams of two must go out into the world and disappear for 28 days without a team of investigators finding them.
Kentucky: 'Kate Plus 8'
Kate Gosselin is the mother of sextuplets and a set of twins. After divorcing her husband, Jon Gosselin, the show follows Kate as a single mother.
Louisiana: 'Duck Dynasty'
The show, which ended in 2017, chronicles the lives of the Robertson family and their business, Duck Commander.
Maine: 'America’s Got Talent'
This reality competition show stands out from the others by combining all talents - comedy, singing, dancing and even magic. Currently hosted by Tyra Banks, the show includes judges Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel.
Maryland: 'Supernanny'
Jo Frost is Mary Poppins come to life, and each episode features the British professional nanny helping a family who struggles with parenting. The show ended in 2011, but remains the most popular in Maryland.
Massachusetts: 'Bachelor in Paradise'
Accompanying the popular reality show is Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise, which features a live weekly after-show hosted by Michelle Collins as of 2017. It’s perfect for anyone who can’t get enough of the franchise.
Michigan: 'Bachelor in Paradise'
The show is quite popular, appearing on this list several times. America loves watching people trying to find love.
Minnesota: 'Bachelor in Paradise'
Host Chris Harrison is a busy man. Along with hosting the Bachelor franchise, he’s also the host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Mississippi: 'Love & Hip Hop'
The VH1 franchise has been highly successful since its first episode in 2011. It’s launched a ton of spinoffs in Atlanta, Hollywood and Miami. The original series takes place in New York.
Missouri: 'Hunted'
The teams of fugitives are competing for a $250,000 grand prize.
Montana: 'Hunted'
The expert investigators use high-tech equipment to track the fugitives, as well as more traditional methods like searching their homes and looking at their phone history.
Nebraska: 'Kate Plus 8'
Along with her reality show fame, Kate is also the author of three non-fiction books and appeared on The Apprentice in season 14.
Nevada: 'Pawn Stars'
The series is filmed in Las Vegas and chronicles the daily happenings of the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop. The show not only covers the staff’s interactions with the customers, but also highlights the conflict between the staff themselves.
New Hampshire: 'Long Island Medium'
Theresa Caputo is a self-proclaimed medium from Long Island, hence the title of this popular reality show. Despite the success of her show, Theresa has plenty of critics who deem her a fake.
New Jersey: 'Shark Tank'
A franchise part of the Japanese show, Dragons’ Den, Shark Tank highlights entrepreneurs who have the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to the team of "shark" investors. The show has won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Structured Reality Program four times.
New Mexico: 'Little Women: LA'
The Lifetime reality series follows a group of girlfriends who are little people living in Los Angeles. The show’s success has created spinoffs such as Little Women: New York, Little Women: Dallas and Little Women: Atlanta.
New York: 'Mob Wives'
Created by Jennifer Graziano, the VH1 series (which was on for six seasons) follows a group of Staten Island women whose family members have been arrested and imprisoned for their alleged connections to the Mafia.
North Carolina: 'Hoarders'
This is certainly not a show for anyone who is obsessed with cleanliness. The A&E program depicts the struggles of people who suffer from compulsive hoarding disorder.
North Dakota: 'The Voice'
There can never be enough singing competition shows. NBC’s take on the classic format is hosted by Carson Daly and has had a ton of famous coaches.
Ohio: '16 and Pregnant'
The popular MTV documentary series spawned the spinoffs Teen Mom, Teen Mom 2, Teen Mom 3 and Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant.
Oklahoma: 'Undercover Boss'
Based on the British series of the same name, the CBS reality program depicts a person in an upper-management position going undercover as an entry-level employee to discover the issues within their company and what their staff actually thinks of them. There’s also a celebrity edition, which premiered in May 2018.
Oregon: 'Little People, Big World'
The TLC program chronicles the lives of Matt and Amy Roloff, along with their children, living on a farm in Oregon. Matt, Amy and one of their sons have dwarfism. As of 2016, Matt and Amy are officially divorced.
Pennsylvania: 'Guy’s Grocery Games'
Guy Fieri is one of Food Network’s biggest stars, so it makes sense that he has more than one show on the network. This cooking game show competition set in a grocery store is a favorite of Pennsylvania. The winning chef has the chance to win up to $20,000.
Rhode Island: 'The Voice'
The current coaches include Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Adam Levine. Previous coaches include Alicia Keys, Miley Cyrus, Usher, Gwen Stefani and Shakira.
South Carolina: 'The Real Housewives'
The popularity of the franchise in the United States spawned many international spinoffs, such as The Real Housewives of Melbourne, The Real Housewives of Vancouver and The Real Housewives of Cheshire.
South Dakota: 'Hunted'
The CBS reality show appears on this list in several states, making it one of the most popular.
Tennessee: 'Hunted'
The show is based on the U.K. show of the same name, which premiered in 2015.
Texas: 'Little Women: Dallas'
The spinoff of the Los Angeles installment is the most popular reality show in Texas. The series has two seasons.
Utah: 'Sister Wives'
The TLC show has been on the air since 2010, and documents the life of polygamist Kody Brown and his four wives, as well as their 18 children.
Vermont: 'Survivor'
With a whopping 36 seasons and first premiering here in the U.S. in 2000, Survivor is one of the most successful reality television shows of all time. Strangers are placed in an isolated location where they must obtain food, water, fire and shelter. There are challenges and the prize consists of $1,000,000.
Virginia: 'The Apprentice'
The popularity of the original show spawned The Celebrity Apprentice, where famous people compete to win money that they can then donate to a charity of their choice.
Washington: 'Project Runway'
You’re either in or you’re out, and if you live in Washington then you are in with Project Runway. The popular fashion show hosted by Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn has been on the air for 16 seasons and has had many celebrity guest judges.
West Virginia: 'Hoarders'
A ninth season of the show lives under the name Hoarders: Overload, which presents unaired footage from earlier episodes for those who can’t get enough of hoarding tendencies.
Wisconsin: 'The Bachelor'
With 22 seasons and originally airing in 2002, ABC’s dating reality show remains incredibly successful with plenty of spinoffs. It also spawned a parody, Burning Love, and serves as inspiration for the Lifetime scripted series UnREAL.
Wyoming: 'Ink Master'
Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro serves as the host and one of the main judges of this tattoo reality competition, where tattoo artists compete in various competitions and test their artistic skills. In April 2018, it was announced that the show has been renewed for an 11th season.
