You know you’re a power couple when all eyes are on your matching Met Gala outfits! The hottest, most talked about duos are always the stars wearing the most interesting, outrageous and fabulous ensembles. Many couples go all out, including Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart, who have also used the Met Gala as an opportunity to introduce themselves as a couple to the rest of the world. See which lovebirds sizzled together on the red carpet at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art over the years.
Rita Ora and Taika Waititi
Talk about coordination!
The singer and her actor-director beau both wore Prada to the 2021 gala.
Naomi Osaka and Cordae
Take one fierce tennis player. Add a fashionably fearless rapper. You get one glam couple.
For the 2021 ball, Naomi wore a colorful Louis Vuitton dress by Nicolas Ghesquière and big sister Mari Osaka. Cordae opted for a dapper custom look by Coach.
Justin and Hailey Bieber
Now that's power: Attending one of the most over-the-top fashion events of the year in an understated set of black ensembles.
Inspired, she said, by the Grace Kellys of the time, Hailey opted for a black, floor-length gown with a plunging neckline by Saint Laurent for the 2021 gala. Justin wore a look from his own label, Drew House.
David and Victoria Beckham
From all black to all-white: David and Victoria Beckham proved they were Met Gala pioneers when they attended in this matchy look from 2014.
The former singer and iconic designer rocked one of her own collection's white dresses, while David wore a Ralph Lauren tuxedo with black pants.
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello
For the 2021 gala, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello looked fine and fabulous in black and purple.
Cabello's cropped-top look came via Michael Kors. Shawn, for his part, just came shirtless.
Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid
The model’s shimmering silver Tommy Hilfiger gown -- especially while on the Versace-designed robotic arm of her boyfriend -- fit perfectly with the 2016 Met Gala’s “Manus X Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” theme. This was the year the couple made their red carpet debut, and four years later, it was announced that they are currently expecting their first child.
Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart
The on-again, off-again Riverdale couple took the 2019 Met Gala’s “Camp” theme and ran with it. Although she plays sweet Betty Cooper on TV, Reinhart was channeling Marie Antoinette in her powder blue Salvatore Ferragamo ensemble that featured short-shorts and an off-the-shoulder top with an exceedingly long train. She accessorized with sky-high hair and an orchid headpiece. As for Sprouse, he resembled a dandy in his burgundy Salvatore Ferragamo suit embroidered with lots of multicolored flowers.
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez
They really know how to set a red carpet on fire! In 2019, J.Lo’s beaded Versace dress and cap were both flapper inspired and caught the light with its glimmering fringe. She added even more glitz to her look with a Harry Winston necklace set with a 65.32-carat purple sapphire. Instead of getting lost in a sea of black suits, A-Rod wore a statement making lilac-toned suit jacket.
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas
Their love story began at this 2018 Met Gala. Though not together yet, Jonas and Chopra were both invited to the event by designer Ralph Lauren, who dressed them for the occasion. The Isn't it Romantic actress wore an exaggerated trench dress, with tall boots and her hair piled high, while the Jonas Brother was dressed in a suit that featured an eye-catching print. The rest is history!
Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West
My, what glowing eyes you have, Mr. West! The rapper and fashion designer wore distressed jeans, a crystal embroidered Balmain jean jacket and blue contacts for the 2016 event. His reality star wife shone like a disco ball in her mirrored long-sleeved dress, also by Balmain. While she didn’t go the blue contacts route, she did bleach her eyebrows.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend
On the 2017 red carpet, where the theme was “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between,” the former Sports Illustrated Swim model stunned in a black mesh Marchesa dress embroidered with tons of fluffy-looking white flowers made from feathers. Her singer husband wore a white suit jacket and black pants to match his wife. And if you want to talk about steamy, before hitting the red carpet that night, the couple shared a nude photo from bed.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds
The Rhythm Section star and her Deadpool husband both looked gorgeous in Gucci on the 2014 red carpet. Lively’s deep side-part and soft curls together with her shimmering gown were a nod to Old Hollywood glamour.
Beyoncé and JAY-Z
I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best Met Gala looks of all time. Her sheer, jewel-encrusted Givenchy Haute Couture gown was the show stopping look of the 2015 Met Gala, as was her sky-high ponytail that gave us I Dream of Jeannie vibes. Meanwhile, Hova kept things classic in a black tux.
Amal and George Clooney
The criminal defense lawyer dazzled in a strapless look by designer Richard Quinn. To match 2018’s “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” theme, the outfit featured a silver bodice, blue pants and a show-stopping pale blue train covered in a red rose pattern, while her husband looked dashing in a classic black tux.
Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner

Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas
The couple did not skimp on their outfits for their first Met Gala as husband and wife in 2019. The couple looked very much in love at the 2015 soiree. The Modern Family actress looked heavenly in a pale pink Marchesa gown, while her True Blood star husband wore a black Ermenegildo Zegna suit, made-to-measure.
Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego
Is that a peacock? No, it’s the Guardians of the Galaxy star wearing a colorful, strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown that featured an ultra-long feathered train. Her husband let her shine at the 2016 Met Gala by keeping his look simple with a black tux.
Beyoncé and JAY-Z
You know she’s so reckless when she rock her Givenchy dress, and the 2014 “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” Met Gala red carpet was no different. Queen Bey brought the drama in a sheer black number by the fashion house that featured a plunging neckline along with a matching veil. Meanwhile, her husband went for a yin-and-yang approach to her ensemble in his white suit jacket.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend
The cookbook author’s one-of-a-kind Ralph Lauren Collection dress was made with Swarovski crystals that helped her glitter all night on the 2014 red carpet. Legend looked just as sharp in a tux and tails.
Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost
The actress looked beautiful on the 2018 red carpet in an off-the-shoulder burgundy Marchesa gown embroidered with pale pink fabric flower petals, while her Saturday Night Live beau wore a classic tux.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth
Okay, so they’re no longer married, but the “Slide Away” singer and her then-husband really brought the heat to the 2019 red carpet. Cyrus wore a sparkling, striped green-and-black Saint Laurent minidress and dangling diamond earrings while Hemsworth opted for an all black suit.
Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West
While pregnant with daughter North in 2013, the reality star wore a floral Riccardo Tisci dress and gloves for the “Punk: Chaos to Couture”-themed party. She accessorized with sparkling Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, while her main man wore a tux.

Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy
Although she may look just like your average Cinderella, the Homeland star’s baby blue Zac Posen gown had a special technological feature that let it light up in the dark, matching the 2016 gala’s technology theme. While Danes’ dress stole the show, Dancy still looked nothing short of dashing in his tux.
Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis
The Booksmart director wore a pretty pink Prada dress that she accessorized with elbow-length gloves that featured jewel details to the 2015 celebration, and her fiance wore a white suit by the same designer.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski
The A Quiet Place stars looked elegant on the 2012 Met Gala red carpet in their Calvin Klein designs. Blunt’s watermelon-hued dress featured small cut-outs along the sides, and the color was a nod to the designer Schiaparelli, who was the inspiration for the year’s theme, “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations.”
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade
The baller and his wife were total showstoppers on the 2019 red carpet in their royalty-inspired wear. Union wore a hand-embroidered sparkling silver and black Dundas gown and headpiece while her husband opted for a black suit with silver design embroidered sleeves and a similarly designed hood.
