Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson's Relationship Timeline

Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson first sparked romance rumors after they were photographed leaving the Los Angeles nightclub Bootsy Bellows within minutes of one another in August 2016. The next month, they seemingly confirmed the dating rumors when they were spotted enjoying the sunshine and crystal-clear waters in Cabo. The pair were photographed hitting the ocean on jet skis and having fun with friends in the idyllic vacation destination.

The pair packed on the PDA while attending Drake's Summer Sixteen Tour stop at Los Angeles' Staples Center on Sept. 10. After the show, they posed for a beaming selfie with Khloe's mom, Kris Jenner. About a week later, the pair got more public than ever before when they made out at a party in Miami, locking lips as they were filmed by one of their pals, who posted the make-out session to Snapchat. Earlier in the evening, Khloe and Tristan were joined by Kourtney Kardashian and family friend Jonathan Cheban for dinner before heading to watch Kanye West perform at the American Airlines Arena as part of his Saint Pablo Tour.

Two days later, ET caught up with Kris Jenner, who gave Tristan her stamp of approval, sharing, "He's a wonderful guy. I have met him and he's great." Later that night, the couple semi-officially confirmed their relationship when they smiled for photographers at the LIV at Fontainebleau nightclub in Miami.

Khloe traveled to Cleveland to support the Cavaliers star as he accepted his NBA championship ring. Five days later, the couple went all out for Halloween, dressing up in amazing Marvel Comics-inspired couples' costumes. Khloe's Storm creation was spot on, complete with platinum-white hair and glowing eye, while Tristan's athletic build gave a real believability to his Black Panther outfit. Plus, the pair weren't shy when it came to making out on the dance floor at the spooktacular bash.

Khloe visited Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where she opened up about her romance with the NBA pro and spending more and more time with him in Ohio. "I live here, but I’m there very often," the reality store told Kimmel of splitting her time between L.A. and Cleveland. "I actually really do [like spending time in Cleveland]. I actually really like it. I like just having my routine and being a little more under the radar."

Khloe sat down for an interview with Health magazine, where she gushed about her boyfriend and explained what she found attractive about the handsome athlete. "My boyfriend’s a cutie, so I do like big men," she admitted. "I love athletes. Someone who has the same interests as me, who likes to work out, like that’s their hobby or their job, that’s fine… Tristan is who I’m into. He's a little cutie." In early December, Tristan also became a father for the first time when his ex, Jordan Craig, gave birth to their son, Prince.

The happy couple spent their first Christmas together, with Tristan taking to Instagram to celebrate the happy holiday. He shared a photo of himself and his lady love in luxurious fur coats, writing, "Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays from me and mines, to you and yours."

The couple got close on the dance floor as they rang in the new year together at Nicki Minaj's performance at E11EVEN nightclub in Miami. Khloe posted a steamy snapshot from the celebration, showing her grinding up on her man while rocking a shimmering gold-sequined gown. "Happy New Year!!! May you always be surrounded by the love you are deserving of!" she captioned the pic. "May Gods blessings continue to rain on us all!"

Khloe showed just how much she adored Tristan when she threw a glamorous house party to celebrate her boyfriend's 26th birthday. The house was filled with sparkly gold balloons as well as giant letter balloons that spelled out "Happy Birthday," and the table was set with a stunning floral arrangement that served as a table runner. The decadent spread also included donuts with glitter sprinkles, golden Kit Kats, and cookies with the couple's picture on them.



She later took to Instagram to send her beau a sweet message, writing, "To the happiest of birthdays my love! To the first of many more together! May God continue to bless you in all of your days! And may we forever look at one another like this ?."

In an interview with ES Magazine, Khloe said she would "love to have a family," and admitted that she and Tristan had already discussed the possibility. "We’ve talked about it. He [already] is a father, and I know for a fact that he would be an impeccable father," she said.  "I definitely want to be a mom. But I don’t put the pressure on it. It’s not like, 'the clock is ticking.' I feel in my soul it will happen." She also said she would say yes if Tristan popped the question, noting, "[I've] never been in this type of love."

Three months after Khloe threw Tristan a special birthday party, her boyfriend returned the favor with a surprise celebration with tons of her friends and family at Blind Dragon in Los Angeles. Tristan went all out for the big night, covering the club in decorations and golden treats, and they even had a photo booth.

Nearly a year after they began dating, Khloe seemed to get more and more comfortable with sharing her love for Tristan on Instagram, like this cute matching pic she captioned, "Sweet Sunday ?."

Khloe opened about her romance with the Canadian basketballer in an interview with the Mail on Sunday's YOU magazine, once again talking about the possibility of getting married again and starting a family. "I’m in the best relationship I’ve ever been in and it doesn’t take a ring for me to feel that way,” she said. “I believe in marriage and I want to be married again one day but I don’t have a time frame. Why do people think that marriage equates to happiness? There are a lot of people in unhealthy marriages.”

The denim designer also noted that their relationship works well and stays strong because they share the same "belief system and morals," which makes dating and communicating easier, going on to say that Tristan is "very protective" of her. "Feeling loved and validated and secure is a huge thing," she explained. "Tristan is protective of my entire family, which is beautiful. And I love that everything we do is as a union. When he speaks, it’s ‘us’ and ‘we,’ and that’s important because it shows that you’re sharing life."

Reports first surfaced that Khloe and Tristan were expecting their first child together just days after it was revealed that her younger sister, Kylie Jenner, was pregnant. A source told ET at the time, "Khloe is pregnant and due early next year. It's going to be a very busy time for the Kardashian-Jenner family… It's no secret that Khloe was eager to become a mother. This is something she has wanted for a long time and, finally, the timing is right."

Amid the pregnancy reports, the couple went all out once again for their second Halloween together, rocking matching Game of Thrones outfits to a Halloween party, decked out as Khaleesi and Khal Drogo.

Khloe finally confirmed the pregnancy rumors when she took to Instagram to share the news alongside a black-and-white photo of her bare baby bump, cradled by her and Tristan's hands. "My greatest dream realized! We are having a baby! I had been waiting and wondering but God had a plan all along. He knew what He was doing. I simply had to trust in Him and be patient. I still at times can't believe that our love created life!" Khloe wrote. "Thank you to everyone for the love and positive vibes! I know we've been keeping this quiet but we wanted to enjoy this between our family and close friends as long as we could privately."

Just a couple of weeks after Khloe officially revealed her pregnancy, she shared an update that she was officially six months along. “For six months [pregnant], you a fine six months, baby. I’ll tell you that," Tristan flirted in a sweet Snapchat video from the couple's New Year's Eve night out in Ohio.

Her beau may have been playing ball, but that didn't stop Khloe from taking a trip to Tokyo, Japan, with her sisters, Kim and Kourtney, when she was 8 months along. Around the same time, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians season 14 finale aired, in which Khloe revealed that she was expecting a little girl while talking with her sisters. She also took to Twitter to address the news, and sweetly gave a shout-out to Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian West's newborn daughters, Stormi and Chicago. "I am now so excited my daughter will have forever best friends with Chicago and Stormi!! God is great!!! Thank you Lord for our princess," Khloe shared.

Khloe and Tristan went all out for their co-ed baby shower on March 11, a stunning pink-filled soiree held at Hotel Bel-Air and hosted by Amazon Baby Registry. In the pics, there are hundreds of rose-colored balloons on the ground with pink flowers dangling from the ceiling, pink table settings and lighting. There was also a neon sign that says, "Baby Thompson." In a Snapchat video, Khloe shared, "I'm so excited it's my baby shower," while her younger sister, Kendall Jenner, cuddled up to her and rubs her baby bump.

In the days leading up to her due date, Khloe spent her time keeping a low profile, relaxing at the couple's home in Cleveland and taking to Instagram and Snapchat to document the final days of her pregnancy journey. The 33-year-old reality star, who has never shied away from baring her glowing pregnancy bod, posted numerous artistic photos of her baby bump in romantic snapshots with Tristan. On April 9, Khloe posted a touching photo of her and her shirtless boyfriend sharing a sweet kiss, which she captioned, "We are ready whenever you are little mama."

But Tristan made headlines after The Daily Mail obtained video of what appears to be Thompson making out with an unknown woman at the New York City club PH-D Lounge on April 7. However, a source told ET that he and the woman were talking, "nothing more." "The video going around showed Tristan in a loud club briefly talking to a girl, nothing more," the source says. "Tristan was there for roughly an hour and left with his teammates. Khloe and Tristan are happy and focusing on the birth of their daughter." In the wake of the reports, TMZ also published a video of what appears to be Thompson kissing and getting cozy with two women at a hookah lounge outside Washington, D.C., in October 2017. The NBA star didn't comment on the reports. 

A source told ET that Khloe's family was standing behind her to lend emotional support as she approached her due date. "Kris has gathered the family and made sure they would all be there for her," the source said at the time. "They are so excited for Khloe. Her sisters are being super supportive of her… her family is rallying around her." The source said that despite photos and videos published by multiple outlets that allegedly show Thompson being intimate with unknown women, the family was trying to make sure Khloe focuses on the thing that matters right now, which was the birth of her daughter. Meanwhile, another source said that Khloe was "completely devastated," explaining, "Tristan is a man Khloe built a life with and saw as her forever. Khloe’s mother, Kris, flew to Cleveland to be with her and support her in whatever she needs."

Amid the cheating drama, the couple welcome their first daughter together, a baby girl, around 4 a.m. ET on April 12 in a hospital outside of Cleveland, Ohio. "Baby and mom are healthy,” a source close to the Kardashians told ET, adding that the little one is "beautiful." Four days later, Khloe announced the name of their newborn baby girl, True Thompson, which -- according to an ET source -- was chosen before the couple’s cheating drama. "Our little girl, True Thompson, has completely stolen our hearts and we are overwhelmed with LOVE. Such a blessing to welcome this angel into the family! Mommy and Daddy loooooove you True!" the new mom wrote on Instagram.

As the days go by, sources continued to tell ET that Khloe was "furious" with Thompson and not in "denial" over the situation, noting that the couple's relationship was "not in a good place." Then, two weeks after True's birth, Kim Kardashian West described the infidelity scandal as "so f**ked up" during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "Like, I don't even know how to describe it. It's just so f**ked up," she shared. "We really were rooting for Khloe, and we still are," the mother of three continued. "She's so strong and she's doing the best that she can. It's a really sad situation all over."

On May 4, the reality star and the basketball player were spotted enjoying a meal together with a few friends at TownHall restaurant in Cleveland, Ohio. Photos and video obtained by TMZ show the Good American designer looking relaxed as she smiled at the table sitting next to Tristan. Two days later, Khloe stepped out to support boyfriend Tristan at the NBA star's playoff game. She was escorted by security as she sported sunglasses and a leopard-print dress, heading into the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, in a photo obtained by TMZ.

Shortly thereafter, Tristan stayed mum about the status of his relationship with Khloe in an interview on UNINTERRUPTED's Road Trippin' Podcast but had no problem sharing details about his daughter. "She's doing good," he said of the newborn. "Baby True is eating, sleeping and, uh, sh**tin'." As for whether he sees himself having more kids in the future, the father of two confessed, "I'm gonna keep going. ...I've got a couple more left."

The new mom was basking in the joy of her first child after she turned one month old a day prior to Mother's Day. Khloe gave fans a first glimpse of True on her milestone one-month birthday, with fans quickly cooing over the newborn and trying to figure out if True looked more like her mom or dad. "Tristan and True are twins lol it’s crazy," Khloe told one fan.

Khloe stepped out to publicly support Tristan in game three of the NBA Finals, which her boyfriend's team ultimately ended up losing to the Golden State Warriors. The Good American designer donned a black Cleveland T-shirt and tight ripped jeans for the occasion, wearing her long blonde hair down and keeping her makeup light. ET spoke to Sonny Johnson, who took a picture of Khloe with his wife, Sianez, and he said the reality star was all smiles during their brief meeting and told his wife it was nice to meet her. Johnson -- who's the boys basketball coach at Garfield Heights High School in Cleveland, Ohio -- added that Khloe appeared more than happy to be at the game to cheer on her man.

Khloe, Tristan, and baby True returned to L.A. just in time for Father’s Day! To celebrate, Khloe’s family and friends threw an adorable welcome home party complete with pink balloons and cookies featuring her daughter's face. “True definitely brought them closer together,” a source told ET in May. The next night, they enjoyed their first parents’ night out back in SoCal. They were spotted at Poppy nightclub on June 18, where Khloe looked fierce in a green jacket and matching suede thigh-high boots, while Tristan kept it casual in red-and-blue Gucci monogram sweatpants and white sneakers. 

As they rebuild their relationship, Tristan scored major points at home. Khloe took to Snapchat on July 6 to praise her boyfriend for taking over daddy duty while she went back to work at her brand, Good American. "I'm very grateful because Tristan is being a great daddy and he has done all the feedings while I've been gone," she told her followers. "Shout out to all the good dads out there." 

Three days later, the pair went on a double date with Tristan's former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate, LeBron James, and James' wife, Savannah Brinson, at Nobu in Los Angeles. Following their meal, Tristan took to Snapchat to share a video with his reality star girlfriend. In the sweet post, Tristan can be seen singing along to music while a tired-looking Khloe snuggles up to her boyfriend. The pair even shares a cute kiss for the camera.

Shortly after Khloe revealed that she’d dropped 33 pounds since giving birth to daughter True in April, she and Tristan stepped out together for a lunch date. Around the same time, Lisa Stanley, a friend of Kardashian family matriarch Kris Jenner, revealed to KIIS FM's Celeb HQ that the couple is dedicated to rebuilding their bond. "One thousand percent they are working through couples therapy," Stanley explained to Celeb HQ hosts Zoe Marshall and JC Caldwell. She also said that both Khloe and Tristan are "working hard," but that you "can't just earn trust back in two months."

The couple was spotted enjoying a date night at Craig's in West Hollywood on Aug. 17, just a few days after enjoying a short getaway in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with Khloe's younger sister, Kendall Jenner, and her rumored boyfriend, Ben Simmons. Khloe and Tristan were spotted kissing at their private pool with their friends nearby. The NBA pro appeared to be snapping a photo of the smooch as Khloe looked longingly into his eyes.

The duo enjoyed a tropical vacation together around the Labor Day holiday. A couple of weeks later, multiple reports said Khloe would be returning to Cleveland, Ohio, with Tristan once the NBA season began. 

When Khloe returned from a family trip to Bali on Oct. 27, she got a sweet surprise from Tristan. Upon opening the door to her house in Calabasas, California, she found a heartwarming message written in silver letter-shaped balloons that read "Welcome Home." "Thank you baby," True's mama wrote above the pic, along with a pink heart emoji.

A couple of days later, the reality star was on a plane again, this time going back to Ohio. A source told ET that Khloe "even supported him at his basketball game" in Cleveland on Oct. 30. "Khloe and Tristan are still working on things, but know whatever they decide to do moving forward, it will be whatever is best for their daughter, True," the source said. "Khloe isn’t certain how long she will be in Cleveland and may fly back for her mom, Kris [Jenner's], birthday next week, but isn’t sure. A lot is dependent on how things go with her and Tristan."

The couple celebrated their daughter's first Halloween as a family, with the Cleveland Cavaliers star even taking to Instagram Stories to share some sweet photos with his girls for the holiday. Little True was adorably dressed up as a very happy flamingo.

The whole Kardashian-Jenner family got together to celebrate Thanksgiving save for Khloe, who instead hosted a meal with Tristan and their daughter, True, in Cleveland, Ohio. "Khloe put together an incredible Thanksgiving dinner in Cleveland with Tristan. This Thanksgiving is special to the couple as it’s True’s first one," a source told ET. "They had a bunch of friends join them and celebrated what they are most thankful for this year: True."

After Kendall Jenner was spotted playfully booing her sister's boyfriend while courtside at the Cleveland Cavaliers game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Nov. 23, Khloe -- who attended Tristan's NBA game the following day -- laughed off rumors of acrimony.  “Look at my baby heckler,” she tweeted in response to coverage of her lil sis. “I’m dying at Kenny trying to heckle on the low low! #ItDidntWork.”

The couple rang in 2019 with a midnight kiss while celebrating New Year's Eve together at a club in Cleveland, Ohio. 

Ten months after Tristan made headlines when he reportedly cheated on Khloe with multiple women while she was pregnant with their daughter, True, a source tells ET that the pair had officially broken up. "There were trust issues again and she has been down that road before," the source said. "She has to be strong for herself and True. Everyone is extremely disappointed.”

On Feb. 19, Tristan tweeted, "FAKE NEWS," then deleted it shortly after. Later that day, Khloe commented on a Hollywood Unlocked Instagram post claiming Tristan recently cheated on her with Jordyn Woods, her sister, Kylie Jenner's, best friend, as did two of her friends, Larsa Pippen and Malika Haqq, but the Good American co-creator hadn't yet commented on her own social media accounts.

Though they had been officially apart for a few months, Tristan still took to Instagram to wish Khloe a happy 35th birthday. The 28-year-old NBA star shared a picture of his ex cuddling with their 1-year-old daughter, True. Despite their messy breakup in February, Tristan had nothing but glowing words for the mother of his child. "Happy birthday @khloekardashian," he wrote. "You are the most beautiful human I have ever met inside and out. Thank you for being an amazing mommy to our princess True. She is blessed to have someone like you to look up to. I wish you nothing but more success and sending you positive blessing your way. Enjoy your day Koko ❤️."



Tristan's surprise birthday post to Khloe came as their cheating drama was playing out on the season finale of her reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians. During part one of the season finale that aired that Sunday, Khloe claimed that Tristan was texting her about suicidal thoughts after being confronted with the cheating reports. "Once Tristan finally landed in Cleveland, he saw my millions of text messages," she told cameras in a confessional. "He already knew what was up and there was nothing else he could do but confirm it. When I got my questions answered, I was getting more details that everybody left and Jordyn still stayed. That she was sitting on his lap in a chair. They were all over each other. They were handsy. They made out. It's disgusting. I'll never understand the depths of his ick. I was just hoping for a better outcome for my daughter and for myself."

"He's doing this to get a reaction out of me," she also said of the scary text messages, revealing that she sent someone over to check on him. "Like, I'm just allowed to say I'm going to kill myself and that's fine? That's crazy."

Amid swirling rumors that the two were attempting to reconcile their relationship as they hunkered down with their daughter during the coronavirus pandemic, Tristan took to Instagram with a sweet photo and accompanying birthday message for Khloe. "I'm wise enough now to know, you came into my life to show me just what it means to be an incredible person," the NBA player wrote. "I appreciate how I am able to learn from and grow because of you. I thank God for the beautiful and loving woman you are to everyone, especially our daughter True. You deserve the world Koko! True and I love you mama. Happy Birthday @khloekardashian ❤️?."

After months of rumors, the pair officially rekindled their romance. A source told ET that the reality star and the NBA pro "are back together and things have been going really well."

"Khloe is doing what she feels is right for herself and her daughter, True," the source said, adding that Khloe is aware that the decision will likely be met with criticism from her fans and others in her life. "Khloe has never listened to outside voices, she’s always stayed true to her heart. Things with Khloe and Tristan have been great and the couple is taking this time in quarantine to really reconnect and enjoy one another.”

Just a few days before the news of the reconciliation was confirmed, Tristan shared a sweet Instagram photo with the couple's daughter, True, which he captioned, "Daddy's twin."

As would later be revealed in court documents, Tristan slept with Maralee Nichols the same night that Khloe threw him his 30th birthday party. That night, Tristan and Maralee conceived their child, who would be born in December, unleashing untold drama. But at the time, Khloe was unaware, posting to Instagram about her then-boyfriend. 

"Thank you for showing me everything you said you would," she wrote at the time. "For the father you are. For the best friend I have in you. I'm thankful that I can do absolutely nothing with you and it feels like everything."

Nearly a year after they rekindled their romance, and even discussed having more kids on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, a source confirmed to ET that Khloe and Tristan had called it quits.

"Khloe and Tristan broke up recently. Tristan was at a birthday party in Bel Air and was acting very single throughout the evening," the source said. "The Kardashians were invited to the party but did not attend. Tristan and Khloe will continue to co-parent True together in a healthy, loving way." 

According to court documents, Tristan was informed that he had conceived a child with Maralee on July 2. He kept this information a secret from Khloe all while attempting to work on their relationship and encouraging her to have a second child with him. 

Khloe confirmed that the pair "just got back together" ahead of sister Kourtney Kardashian's engagement to Travis Barker. 

"We're good. We're actually in a really good place," she said on The Kardashians. "We just got back together. He's been going to therapy a lot. There's just been a lot of effort on his part."

On the show, she said she was building her dream home with True and hoped Tristan would live with them.  

As Khloe later outlines in the season 2 premiere of The Kardashians, she and Tristan did an embryo transfer "days before Thanksgiving" in the hopes of welcoming a second child. Khloe said she was "encouraged" to do the transfer by a certain date, later realizing that it was because Tristan knew the details of his paternity scandal would be coming out shortly. 

Published court documents revealed that Tristan had fathered another woman's child, with Khloe learning the news alongside the rest of the world from an article online the first week in December. The news broke just days after the former couple's embryo transfer. Tristan ultimately admitted to having sex with a woman on the night of his 30th birthday in March 2021, and subsequently for several months after. 

"Today, paternity test results reveal that I fathered a child with Maralee Nichols. I take full responsibility for my actions. Now that paternity has been established, I look forward to amicably raising our son," Tristan wrote in a statement. "I sincerely apologize to everyone I've hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal, both publicly and privately."

"Khloe, you don't deserve this. You don't deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you. You don't deserve the way I have treated you over the years," he added. "My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you. I have the utmost respect and love for you. Regardless of what you may think. Again, I am so incredibly sorry."

Just ahead of her 38th birthday, Khloe began quietly dating a private equity investor after being introduced by sister Kim during a dinner party. 

"Khloe is in a good head space and things are going well for her," a source told ET, though the current status of the reality star's relationship with the mystery man is unclear.

In the season 2 premiere of The Kardashians, Khloe revealed that her baby boy was born several weeks early on July 28. She and Kim were in the hospital with the surrogate when the baby arrived, and Kim filmed the whole thing on her phone. Khloe also invited Tristan to be there, despite their ongoing drama. 

"I've been on the fence about having Tristan come to the hospital or not," Khloe admitted on The Kardashians. "But Tristan wants to be here so I just figured why not let him come. I'll never get this moment back."
