Though celebrity face tattoos aren't anything new -- hello, Mike Tyson! -- they've recently had a rebirth in popularity. Chris Brown, Presley Gerber and Amber Rose inked their faces within days of each other in February 2020, while folks like Justin Bieber, Aaron Carter and Amanda Bynes got new artwork in the last few months. Then there are the people we can't help but associate with their face tats, like Post Malone, the aforementioned Tyson and the Migos crew. Click through the gallery to see all the celebs with face tattoos!
Aaron Carter
The former child star decided to cover an entire side of his face with art in September 2019. The musician-turned-reality star got a large depiction of Medusa inked across the entire left side of his face. He opened up to ET about the decision shortly after, saying, "Medusa is my protector. If you want to come at me with some negativity, my Medusa will stare you in the eye and turn you into stone." He added that the tattoo is in honor of his mother, whom he views as his own Medusa or protector.
He reiterated a similar statement while on the Hollywood Raw podcast in May 2020, saying, "I got tattoos to make me look tough because I was so scrawny as a defense mechanism. The medusa on my face means 'Don’t look at me the wrong way or this b**ch is going to turn you into stone.' Stop click-baiting me." He also noted that the writing above his eyebrow doesn't say Melanie -- the name of his ex-girlfriend -- but rather "mistake."
Presley Gerber
The son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber let his ink do the talking after he got "Misunderstood" tattooed across his cheek in tiny block letters in February 2020. It seems the 20-year-old model did not take kindly to criticism of the body art, later posting a video of himself at a shooting range, writing, "Innocent little me before all the horrid tattoos y'all know nothing #waketfup."
Post Malone
The "Sunflower" rapper is no stranger to face tattoos. He already had the words "Stay Away" and "Always Tired" in script on his face, as well as an ace of spades card and barbed wire before getting a bloody saw inked on his cheek backstage following a concert in Kansas City, Missouri, in February 2020.
The Game
The 40-year-old rapper got the number 8 -- Kobe Bryant's original jersey number -- blended into the infinity symbol on top of his left eyebrow in February 2020. The Game wore a Los Angeles Lakers jersey over a purple hoodie while getting the tattoo. "♾ F O R E V E R," he captioned the pics. The Game, who was born and raised in Los Angeles and already has a star on his left cheek with "LA" written inside it, has been mourning Bryant's death. Previously, he Instagrammed pictures of the two together.
Chris Brown
The controversial singer got a large Nike Air Jordan 3 sneaker inked on his right cheek by tattoo artist GANGA, who shared pics of the detailed black-and-white piece in February 2020.
Amber Rose
The proud mom decided to honor her sons in a big way by getting their names, "Bash" (for her son, Sebastian) and "Slash," tattooed in script across her forehead. She also had a message for the haters, writing on Instagram, "For the people that are telling me I'm too pretty for a face tat are the same people that would tell me that I'm 'too pretty' even if they thought I was ugly and lie to me lol or they would just tell me I'm ugly. So either way the moral of the story is do whatever the f**k you want in life."
Justin Bieber
The Biebs definitely has his fair share of body art. But unlike some of his other ink, he kept his face tat small and delicate. Working with famed artist Bang Bang, Bieber got the word "grace" written in small script above his eyebrow in January 2019.
Amanda Bynes
The former child star wore her love on her face, getting a seemingly hand-drawn heart on her left cheek. She debuted the look via Instagram in December 2019.
Halsey
In a since-deleted Instagram post, the "Graveyard" singer revealed that she got a Queen of Hearts symbol inked in red by her left ear. "Headed straight for the castle. @nal.tattoo ?? thanks for my first (and only hopefully lol) face tattoo ♦️♦️♦️♦️," she wrote at the time.
Kehlani
The new mom has a subtle paper airplane on the top of her left cheek, four barely perceptible dots that look like freckles, "Espíritu Libre" in script along her right hairline and a Queen of Hearts by her left ear.
Tyga
The rapper got his first tattoo when he was 14 and told GQ that he was the most "tattoo crazy" between that age and 17. He got the two pieces of ink above his eyebrows at age 15. "It was, like, my label when I was younger, it was like my first squad that I had. It stands for 'getting every dollar, getting educated daily," he told the mag. "I always wanted a face tat, but I didn't want to do nothing that I felt was going to alter my look too much. I don't even notice that they're there anymore, which is crazy."
Travis Barker
The Blink-182 drummer is a walking billboard for body art, and his face is no exception. Back in 2016, he told GQ that tattoos cover about 70% of his body, and that includes an anchor by his right eye and a tiny black star on top of the word "blessed" on his left cheek. "For me it's documenting part of my life or people, things, times in my life," he explained to the mag. "When I'm dead and gone I want people to be able to look at my body and basically relive my life in some ways."
Lil Wayne
The rapper is covered nearly head to toe in body art, but he's nearly synonymous with his face tats. The nearly two dozen pieces include teardrops, a smiley face, a heart, the number 17, sunglasses, a peace sign, the phrase "I am music," five cards that spell out "baked" and nine stars tattooed on the side of his face -- some of which glow in the dark -- under the word "misunderstood."
Mike Tyson
With a tribal tat lining the left side of his face since 2003, the retired boxer is one of the first people most think of when it comes to face tattoos. The fact that it was highlighted in 2009's The Hangover also assists that notion.
Trace Cyrus
Like much of the Cyrus family, including his sisters, Miley and Noah, the Metro Station singer is heavily tattooed. His face includes a dagger down the left side of his face and his left eye is outlined by "SMHP," a flying bird, "TN" (the shorthand for his home state of Tennessee), an anchor and two feathers. On the other side, he has "faith" written in script above his eye and a cross under it, plus a whole series crawling up the right side, from script to the Tennessee logo, a rose and an eagle.
Wiz Khalifa
The "See You Again" rapper can see his ink every time he looks in the mirror. Some of his many face tats include an outline of a star, a small peace sign, a Jack-o'-lantern and a marijuana leaf.
Quavo
All three of the Migos members have face tattoos. Quavo has "YRN" written above his left eyebrow and a black crown and a cross on the other.
Offset
The left side of the Migos rapper's face includes a cross next to his eye, a heart by his ear and his daughter, Kulture's, name spelled out along his jawline.
21 Savage
Savage's first face tattoo was the "21" by his left eye, which he got with his brother, Larry. After his sibling died, he added "RIP" above the number and "Larry" below it. His most infamous, however, is the dagger in the center of his forehead, which he told GQ has a secret meaning he can't reveal. He also admitted to the mag that of all the body art he has, the face ones hurt the most because "it's your skull -- there ain't really no meat right there."
Kat Von D
The LA Ink star has had stars tattooed on the left side of her forehead and temple for two decades. She has previously reportedly said that the ink "is a symbol of being able to be heavily tattooed and still carry yourself in a feminine way." She received her first tattoo ever at age 14, which was a "J" on her ankle; it stood for her first love, James, though she joked that it now stands for "just kidding" but she has no regrets about getting it.
Dominic Fike
The up-and-coming rapper-singer, best known for his breakout hit "3 Nights," has the outline of the Apple logo inked onto his upper right cheek as well as the initials for Lame Boys ENT, his Florida crew, on his forehead.
Lil Uzi Vert
The "Money Longer" rapper has a few face tattoos, but his very first -- the word "faith" placed just under his hairline -- came after he worked as a stock boy. His mom kicked him out after he quit that job, the only one he'd had, and he went directly to the tattoo parlor. "I had a job for f**king four days,” Uzi told Fader in 2017. "I couldn’t do it. I'm not normal. I was in there just thinking, Why am I doing this? It was like, If I get this face tattoo, I got to focus. I can’t go in nobody’s office with a suit on with this s**t on my face. I got to focus on what I want to do." It's far from his only one, with many being Adinkra symbols from the Asante tribe, despite the rapper saying he has no familial connection to the West African people.
Rick Ross
The rapper got seven tattoos on his face at the same time in 2015, which included the Miami Heat logo and three crosses.
Takeoff
And last but not least, Takeoff has "Edna" written above his left eyebrow.
Lil Xan
Just 23, the rapper has already filled his face with ink, from three "Z"s and the word "lover" on his right cheek; an upside-down cross and the word "you" by his right eyebrow; a line of dots down his nose; the words "candy" and "soldier" separated by a broken heart on his left cheek; and "memento mori" and "xanarchy" written out on his forehead -- and that's not even all of them!
Lil Pump
From his green alien and blue UFO to the red ace of spaces symbol and star, the "Gucci Gang" rapper has some of the most colorful face tats around.
Gucci Mane
The rapper already had some ink on his face before he got an ice cream cone with the word "Brrr" written on the cone on his right cheek, as well as two lightning bolts running behind the frozen treat. According to Rolling Stone, Gucci’s spokesperson, Kali Bowyer, said the body art is "a reminder to fans of how he chooses to live his life. Cool as ice. As in 'I'm so icy, I'll make ya say Brr.'" Well, OK, then!
Soulja Boy
The "Crank That" rapper has amassed quite the collection over the years, but it's the Gucci logo that was once inked between his eyebrows that he was best known for. He's actually spent the last decade removing many of his tattoos. "Recently I’ve been going through this process to get my tattoos removed, wanted to share the actual procedure," he told fans in a 2015 video that has since been deleted, according to Vibe. "I appreciate all my friends, fans and family. We have to strive to be a better person every day."
Birdman
Birdman has become well-known for the ink that covers much of his mug, but shortly after the rapper turned 50 in February 2019, he revealed on The Wendy Williams Show that he feels like he's too old to keep them. "I didn't want to take the heads off, I wanted to take the facial off," said Birdman, who has a star covering the top of his head. "I was asking my partner, 50 [Cent], because he removed his tattoos, so I wanted to go to somebody who can take these tats off my face. If I have to live with it, I will, but I just felt like me being older, I would like to get it off. But if not, it is what it is.”
Nikki Sixx
The Motley Crue rocker has a star inked on his right cheek.
DeShawn Stevenson
The former NBA player is known amongst basketball fans for his many tats, and one of those includes his son's name, Londyn, written by his right temple. He also has the Pittsburgh Pirates logo inked on his cheek.
Sinead O'Connor
The Irish singer had the letters "B" and "Q" inked on her cheeks in red in 2013. They supposedly were placed there to remind her of a fight she had with her ex-boyfriend, Brendan Quinlan, but she had them lasered off after less than a year, telling Q Magazine that the tats had become "stupid s**t on my face."
CeeLo Green
The former Voice coach's rose tattoo isn't technically on his face but over his left ear, but it's quite perceptible since he sports a shaved dome.
Arnoldisdead
The Soundcloud rapper had a portrait of Anne Frank -- yes, really -- drawn on his face. "I did this for me, basically. It's black and white. It's also a statement, too. In the young scene with pop culture and s**t, people have face tattoos as like levels or ranks and s**t. It's not really a rank thing for me, it's just more of a statement where I see past this s**t. It's black or white for me. Either you're going to die doing what you like doing, that's why I got like death tattooed in Latin right here," he explained to Noisey, saying that, though he didn't care about school and dropped out of college, he did like history class, and learning about the Holocaust stuck with him. "That s**t always like stuck with me personally. It was just like, dude, I had people that really like went through some pretty real life s**t." Well, OK...
Tekashi 6ix9ine
The incarcerated rapper -- whose real name is Daniel Hernandez -- may be better known for his face tattoos than his records, seeing as he has a giant "69" inked above his right eye and the number spelled out both above and below his other eye (he actually has the number tattooed on him in over 200 places around his body). On top of those, he has a flower in tribute to the late rapper XXXTentation on his forehead; his older brother's name, Oscar, written down the left side of his face; a portrait of Jigsaw from the Saw franchise on his right cheek; and a spiderweb crawling up both sides of his face.
