Thirty years after Halloween became one of the most successful independent films in history, the gory slasher film is still scaring its way into the hearts of horror buffs everywhere.
The latest installment in the Halloween franchise hits theaters on Oct. 19. Browse through the gallery for photos of the original cast.
Then: Jamie Lee Curtis
Curtis made her film debut in Halloween, portraying Laurie Strode, a 17-year-old high school student and protagonist of the film who is being stalked by deranged killer, Michael Myers.
Now: Jamie Lee Curtis
Curtis has reprised her role as Laurie Strode in a string of follow-ups to the original Halloween. The film's box-office success catapulted Curtis out of the shadow of her famous parents (actress Janet Leigh and actor Tony Curtis) and into her own lane. She went on to star in other cult-classics like Trading Places, A Fish Called Wanda, True Lies and Freak Friday. Curtis also works in series comedy, but went back to the horror genre with her role as Dean Cathy Munsch in Scream Queens.
Then: Tony Moran
Maran portrayed Mike Myers, the masked psychotic serial killer hacking his way through a suburban neighborhood on Halloween night. Maran’s character is also Laurie Strode’s brother.
Now: Tony Moran
After Halloween, Moran landed character roles on The Waltons, CHiPs and other '80s T.V. shows. The 61-year-old actor returned to the horror genre with the 2016 fright film, American Poltergeist, and will appear in the upcoming independent horror film, Friday The 13th: Leah.
Then: Nancy Loomis
Halloween reunited Loomis with director, John Carpenter, whom she first worked with on the 1976 film Assault on Precinct 13. In Halloween, Loomis played teenager, Annie Brackett, a friend of the film's protagonist, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis).
Now: Nancy Loomis
Loomis worked in more Carpenter’s hours films during the 1980s, including The Fog and small roles and cameo in Halloween sequels, where she appeared as the dead version of her character. Since retiring from acting, Loomis has worked as a sculptor and taught theater at Cal Poly Pomona.
Then: Kyle Richards
Before she was a reality star, Kyle Richards was a budding child actress appearing in dozens of film and T.V. shows. In Halloween, Richards played Lindsay Wallace, a little girl who was being babysat by Annie Bracket (Nancy Loomis) during Michael Myers’ killing spree.
Now: Kyle Richards
After Halloween, Richards returned to her recurring role as Alicia Sanderson Edwards on Little House on the Prairie until 1982. Richards also appeared on CHiPs, Beverly Hills, 90210, Love Boat: The Next Wave, Seventh Heaven, and ER. These days, most fans know her from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, though she still continues to act and is the executive producer of the comedy series American Woman, which is loosely based on her life.
Then: Brian Andrews
Andrews was an up-and-coming child actor when he landed the role of Tommy Doyle in Halloween. Andrews’ character is being babysat by Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) while Mike Myers is secretly lurking in the shadows.

Since his days as Tommy Doyle, Andrews scored smaller T.V. and film roles and continues to promote the Halloween franchise at horror film conventions.
Then: P.J. Soles
Soles began her career acting and modeling career in the mid-70s, appearing in the Brian De Palma horror flick Carrie and Our Winning Season co-starring her ex-husband, Dennis Quaid. Soles also auditioned to play Princess Leah in the first Star Wars film (the role went to Carrie Fisher).
Now: P.J. Soles
After Halloween, Soles secured a string of steady acting gigs including Private Benjamin starring Goldie Hawn, the Bill Murray comedy Stripes and the ‘90s dark comedy Jawbreaker starring Rose Mcgowan, Rebecca Gayheart and Julie Benz.
