Brimming with the biggest stars around, the lineup of celebs at the annual MTV Video Music Awards never fails to deliver show-stopping ensembles! The 2019 red carpet didn't disappoint, with stars bringing plenty of glitz and glamour to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Aug. 26. From Hailee Steinfeld and Lizzo's red hot looks to Taylor Swift and Keke Palmer's bold numbers, peep the most fashion-forward looks from music's thrilling night.
Lizzo
Siren, indeed! The "Juice" singer went all out for the 2019 VMAs, vamping it up in a red sequined, strapless Christian Siriano floor-length gown. The look was a modernized take on Old Hollwood, complete with a red boa, strappy silver sandals and a diamond necklace, which were all accentuated by Lizzo's bouffant and long talons.
Keke Palmer
Calling all fashionistas -- Palmer just blinged out Zack Morris' Saved by the Bell cell phone! We couldn't get over her bold purse, but her dress is nothing to ignore! The newly minted morning talk show co-host was anything but mellow yellow in a shimmery, sunshine-hued mock turtleneck maxi dress by Yousef Al Jasmi. The look should be a new gold standard, just like her platform heels.
Camila Cabello
The "Señorita" singer's silky white Balmain confection nearly defied gravity. Matching platform sandals and cascading curls also helped her reach new heights.
Shawn Mendes
Cabello's main man looked quite dapper himself. Hands down one of the best-dressed men at the VMAs, Mendes' emerald green Dolce&Gabbana suit was perfectly tailored, and he made a rather daring choice by layering it with a white tank and black chiffon button-up. His too cool look was completed with black leather Chelsea boots, stacked necklaces and a silver UNOde50 shackled bracelet.
Taylor Swift
The Lover vibes extended to the VMAs red carpet, where the awards show opener stepped out in an Atelier Versace outfit. The colorful custom-made printed jacket was fully encrusted with Swarovski crystals and was matched with a perfectly coordinating bright pink crop top with a Versace inverted sweetheart neckline and matching shorts also covered in crystals. Swift paired the pieces with thigh-high Christian Louboutin black boots, Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira jewels and a red-orange lip.
Hailee Steinfeld
Sound the alarms! The Dickinson star matched her lip and silky sandals to her red-hot sheer Aadnevik confection.
Normani
Girl, get it! The "Motivation" singer showed off her crazy toned abs in a sparkly rainbow-hued Nicolas Jebran dress with a large cut-out in the middle and a thigh-high slit. She let the frock do the talking, pairing it with a matching eye look, giant white gold prong earrings by Loree Rodkin and strappy red stilettos.
Lil Nas X
Move over, Liberace! The "Old Town Road" rapper was on a silver streak at his first-ever VMAs, shining bright in a metallic sequined suit, matching silver glitter Pskaufman cowboy boots and an off-white ruffled top.
Jonas Brothers
They wear bright suits onstage for their Happiness Begins Tour, and while these looks weren't nearly as colorful, the black and gray Fendi sets looked just as good.
H.E.R.
Luckily no one threw a hiss-y fit over there being two snakes on the red carpet, but we have to give the GRAMMY winner props for making her reptile pure fashion. If you can take your eyes off the slithering neck warmer, there's a gorgeous forest green floral Valentino jumpsuit under there. Plus, H.E.R. didn't ditch her signature oversized shades for the VMAs.
Bebe Rexha
The "Last Hurrah" crooner shined brighter than a disco ball in her short-sleeved metallic cut-out dress from Christian Siriano that featured an asymmetrical hemline, which she paired with matching strappy heels.
Gigi and Bella Hadid
The sisters get points for coordination! Gigi smoldered in her Tom Ford ensemble, which included a nude strapless bodysuit, shimmery viscose-and-wool blend trousers, layers of gold necklaces and rings and pointy flesh-hued pumps. Bella, meanwhile, couldn't stop smiling in an abs-baring pale pink Charlotte Knowles dress attached with straps and PVC heels that would have been as perfect at a club down the shore as it was on the red carpet in Newark.
Halsey
Swapping out of her Dundas red carpet look, the Jersey girl rocked a similar silhouette to Normani during the awards show itself. Keeping on the same wig that had a rainbow down the part, Halsey showed off her toned figure in a marble tie-dye, cut-out Kim Shui dress and barely-there silver sandals.
Cardi B
She didn't walk the red carpet, but the "Push" rapper wowed onstage, showing off her curves in a burnt orange woven dress with a plunging neckline by Déviant La Vie as she presented Missy Elliott with the Video Vanguard Award. Cardi finished her look with YSL jewelry and Christian Louboutin shoes.
