A Visual Look Back at Every Season of 'American Horror Story'

Season 1 begins with Murder House, where the Harmon family moves in. Strange occurrences start happening and secrets start being revealed about the house. The neighbors and strangers start showing up to the house unannounced. Weird and unexplainable events transpire, making the Harmon family act out of character and forced to face the truth.

Asylum takes place in 1964 at a mental health facility called Briarcliff Manor. The facility is run by religious leaders, a priest, nuns, and a rouge scientist who conducts experiments on patients. While heinous acts are happening inside the manor, a serial killer is on the loose in the area.  

Coven takes place in New Orleans in 2013 at a school for witches, where new witches learn how to harness their powers. Voodoo is also highly practiced, creating a rivalry between two groups.

Freak Show is set in Florida in 1952. This season follows a group of freaks trying to survive while their trade is dying out. Not surprisingly, scary incidents begin to occur in the town they settle into.

Hotel has Lady Gaga starring as the villainous owner of a hotel, where people who check in don't always check out. This season is based on Ryan Murphy's interpretation of the very real Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles.

Roanoke takes place in a rural house in North Carolina, where a couple once had horrible and frightening experiences. A production team comes in to reenact the couple's events in the actual house, during which time real-life hauntings begin happening to the actors.

Cult takes place in Michigan in 2017 after the 2016 presidential election. The residents are terrorized by Donald Trump's cult and the aftermath of him winning the election. 

Apocalypse takes place in a bunker as the end of the world is happening, but only a few lucky people are chosen to go into the bunker. However, those in the bunker soon find out that they share the space with a frightening entity. The witches from the Coven season make a special appearance as well.

1984 takes place at a summer camp close to Los Angeles that closed due to a massacre 14 years earlier. When a rich person decides to open up the summer camp again in 1984, things start to go horribly wrong.

Double Feature says it all. The first feature, Red Tide, takes place in Provincetown, Massachusetts, where a family stays during the off-season to help the father focus on his writing. The town seems to have weird things happening at night, but no one is talking about it. 



Death Valley is the second part, where students go on a camping trip, only to encounter what appear to be aliens. 

NYC is set in 1980s New York City. A serial killer only targeting gay men is on the loose while a new virus is entering the world. Since the cops seem to be doing sloppy work, a journalist takes it upon himself to get the word out. 

Delicate premieres on Sept. 20, 2023. The latest installment in the American Horror Story franchise is about an actress who wants to make it big and have a family -- and will go to any lengths to make her dreams come true.
