KJ Apa loves to play with fashion, and he always looks good doing it! So, in honor of the New Zealand actor's 23rd birthday, we thought it was only right to bless Riverdale fans with 23 photos of some of his most dapper red carpet (and one TV appearance!) looks ever. And don't forget to scroll to the very end for a slightly less-dressed surprise of the actor. You. Are. Welcome.
Monochrome Magic
The Riverdale leading man knows how to pull off a monochrome look! His midnight blue suiting and his brooding stare were both on point at the Hollywood premiere of I Still Believe in March 2020.
Blue Crush
A dressed-up sk8er boi! We practically swooned when the Auckland-born actor turned up on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in March 2020 in cobalt blue attire paired with black-and-white checkered Vans.
Back in Black
Holy hotness, Archie Andrews! The Riverdale star stepped up his game for the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, looking super sleek in an all-black ensemble. His dress shirt was buttoned dangerously low, revealing part of his chest and two gold chains.
Pretty in Pink
We nearly blushed when we saw Apa in this sleek flamingo pink one-button suit and mauve button-up at the 2019 People's Choice Awards.
Starry-Eyed Star
Not only did he perform with his band, The Good Time Boys, at the 2019 Teen Vogue's Young Hollywood Party, Apa looked super stylish before the soiree kicked off in a long star-adorned cardigan, white tank, dark gray slacks and unique palm tree-and-checkered Vans sneakers.
Riding the Waves
The Shortland Street alum kept things casual when he hopped aboard the #IMDboat at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, keeping comfy in a textured mauve short-sleeved button-up, black jeans and white sneakers.
Got the Blues
The Riverdale redhead sported the perfect relaxed summer look at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards, a pale powder blue suit paired with a white tank and sneakers that screamed casual yet sophisticated.
Jacket Junkie
While volunteering with ASPCA at the Annenberg in Playa Vista, California, in February 2019, Apa added a pop of color to his black-and-white look with a turquoise jacket.
Solid Stripes
A dark stripe paired with maroon pants? The New Zealand native hit all the right fashion buttons when he popped by Build Studio in New York City in October 2018.
Party in Pinstripes
The Hate U Give actor accessorized like a pro for a Hollywood screening of The Last Summer in April 2019, adding flair to an already unique pinstripe, zipper-adorned suit with two chain necklaces, a silver belt chain and plenty of rings.
Tropical Vibes
Move over, Jimmy Buffett! Apa slipped into a dragon-and-guitar adorned take on a Hawaiian shirt for an October 2018 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.
White-Hot Kiwi
So '80s! The Riverdale star rocked white from head to toe -- including a turtleneck! -- at the premiere of The Hate U Give during the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.
Flower Power
The actor, whose given name is Keneti James Fitzgerald Apa, wore a floral buttoned-up, short-sleeved shirt to the Riverdale panel at Comic-Con International 2018. Could anyone else pull off a busy shirt this well? We think not!
Black and White
Maybe he was inspired by his break from red hair dye! While rocking dark brown hair, the Kiwi rocked a more traditional look at the 2018 CW Network Upfront in New York City, sporting a black suit with a white button-up and black tie.
Terrifically Two-Toned
Nope, that isn't one long shirt! The A Dog's Purpose star looked super sharp in a baby blue long-sleeved button-up that blended perfectly into a pair of black trousers topped with an asymmetrical stripe in the identical blue hue as his top at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
Tan-Tastic TCAs
The I Still Believe star tucked a slightly unbuttoned tan short-sleeved dress shirt into a pair of matching slacks, completing his 2018 Teen Choice Awards look with white sneakers.
Music to Our Eyes
A patterned jacket added an extra bit of oomph to Apa's no-tie look at the 2017 American Music Awards.
Dot the Lines
Never one for a traditional black suit, Apa opted for a light olive green jacket and matching slacks paired with a white button-down and orange-and-white polka dot tie for the 2017 CW Upfront in New York City.
Comic-Con Cutie
He loves a good open jacket! Apa was ready to party at Entertainment Weekly's annual Comic-Con soiree in San Diego in July 2017, where he hit the red carpet in a shiny denim blue suit, black tee and white sneakers.
Wizarding Wow
Casual cutie! He may have been fully covered up in a long-sleeved white waffle-knit shirt and dark jeans, but Apa's muscles were still quite easy to spot as he and Riverdale co-star Cole Sprouse walked around Wizard World Comic Con Philadelphia 2017.
Suiting Up
If you told us the natural brunette was going to go straight to Wall Street following this appearance at the 2017 PaleyLive LA Spring Season Riverdale Screening and Conversation in Beverly Hills, we wouldn't have been surprised!
Dapper and Dark
A midnight blue suit is one of Apa's favorite dressed-up pieces, as evidenced by many of his outings, including this one for The CW Network's 2016 New York Upfront Presentation in May 2016.
Desert Dream
And because we're not monsters, we leave you with a shirtless pic of the very fit actor. "Maybe I could be like a superhero of the desert," Apa captioned this June 2020 pic. Change that maybe to a heck yes, sir!
