Inside Michael Phelps' Final Olympics and Life as a New Dad

Michael Phelps hugged and kissed his 3-month-old son, Boomer, after being presented with his 20th gold medal in men's 200m butterfly on Aug. 9. The record-shattering Olympian was joined by his mother, Deborah Phelps, as well as fiancée Nicole Johnson, for the exciting occasion.

Phelps looks as fierce as ever as he competes in the second semifinal of the men's 200m butterfly race on Aug. 8.

Phelps’ fiancee, Nicole Johnson, holds the couple’s 3-month-old son -- who looks adorable while rocking noise-canceling headphones -- as he watches his dad compete in his final Olympics in Rio on Aug. 8.

Phelps shares the emotional moment of looking out at his family to Instagram on Aug. 7, writing, “got to see my amazing family in the stands...@boomerrphelps was sound Asleep.... Haha!! Love you guys so much and thank you for all of your support!!!”

The decorated swimmer is all smiles while leading Team USA into the 2016 Games as the flag bearer on Aug. 3.

Michael Phelps gleefully helped friend and fellow Olympic swimmer Ryan Locthe ring in his 32nd birthday on Aug. 2, captioning his Instagram photo, "Happy bday @ryanlochte !!! The old dudes on the team now!!!"

Phelps proudly showed off his speeds during his team's last practice on American soil on July 31. "Nothing like a little fun afterwards with the crew!!" he captioned this silly Instagram snap.

The American swim team had a very special guest during their power workout on July 18: Tony Parker! "It was awesome to see how much he loved being in the water!!!" Phelps captioned an awesome pic of his crew underwater.

Looks like training is going well! The Maryland native looked fit as could be and quite happy during the 2016 U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Training Camp Media Day in San Antonio, Texas, on July 16.

Even though he's been racing for well over a decade, Phelps still gets excited when he has a great day at practice. "@ryanlochte and I had a fun one today!" he captioned this fish-eyed view of him and Lochte in the pool on July 16. "One of the best racers I've had in my career!!"

Phelps' 2-month-old son, Boomer, is already showing signs that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. “The little man loved the water today!!" the proud dad shared on July 6.

Phelps and his teammate, Katie Ledecky, celebrated their headlining roles in Rio on July 3, the eighth day of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Swimming Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. Both swimmers -- who rocked very patriotic baseball tees -- will be a part of their respective 4x100-meter freestyle relay teams during the Summer Olympic Games.

The 31-year-old swimmer thanked fans during the medal ceremony for the Men's 100 Meter Butterfly at the Olympic swimming trials on July 2.

After finishing first in the final heat of the Men's 200 Meter Individual Medley at the Olympic trials on July 1, the gold medalist celebrated with his fiancée, Nicole Johnson, and their son, Boomer.

All eyes were on Phelps as he signed a giant neon green "2016" flip-flop on June 29. The champion swimmer was equally excited to partake in his third Olympics, captioning the fun pic, "So pumped!!! #number5."
